Out back I'm still running my 10-year-old Moog cargo coils.

Eric,

Do you remember cutting those springs, or did they got in out of the box? I have a set of those going in with my CHE arms if I can ever get the car out of my yard :D

This is great, I have been looking for suspension mods, but every time I go to buy something I find nothing for a T-bird.  Then when you talk to any sales person they won't tell you it will fit.  Since you almost always have to buy a Mustang part for your T-bird, can anyone tell me what year fits what?

I am really thinking of going to coil-overs, but I hesitate as I am not sure if they will work. Anyone know if the link below would work and what model of Mustang would be most comparable to my 88 Fox Body T-bird?

Bob, I am really sorry for the delay in response. Those Moog coils are totally as they were out of the box; I have done nothing with them as far as modification. For cars with a heavy subwoofer boxes in the trunk, or in my case a lot of convertible stuff, the cargo coils are a perfect solution.

Thanks Eric, I actually installed them today, and they are a great fit. The car sits level  :D

I was worried about them having the 4x4 look

Koni sports. No longer available though. I found mine as NOS.
Man, what py resolution on my pic!!!

Thats funny, I have a set of NOS Koni's as well! Mine are still in the box! I may not use them because they are for 83-86 TBirds and I don't know if they will fit in the front control arm pockets. I read somewhere the 87-88 are different control arms than the older ones. Is this true?

So are you guys using standard Mustang Suspension Techniques springs?  Cause that sits really nice and they are still available right?  Which ones, do they only make one set?  Are the for a fox or SN95?

Correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think anyone here has used Mustang Suspension Techniques lowering springs on their bird/cat. I have a set of T-bird/Cougar specific Suspension Techniques springs that were made years ago and since then have been discontinued. Only places to find them (tbird specific: suspension techinque springs, koni rally sport springs, ford motorsport springs, and maybe eibach springs) are on message boards and ebay.

With that said, many guys, as you can see from this thread, have used other mustang springs on their birds/cougars ranging from fox to sn95, front and rear, stock and after market; with any possible combination of those. Hope this helps a little.

-Bryan

P.S. Anyone know if Suspension Techniques made springs for fox mustangs?

That's what I needed to know, I didn't know they were T-bird specific, bummer as usual.

i am running the following

granatelli coil over in the front 79-93 mustang

drag springs w/the coilovers

tokico mustang struts 87-93 5.0

modifyd strut harware for coil overs > factory prc car

in the rear just the stock t/c springs w cheapie rubber "height correctors"
it also has the battery,10 lb n2o bottle  in the trunk

i would suggest coilovers to one who is never happy with the height of there car :D

i will be upgrading the rears soon

sweetness. i had never realy considered coil overs even though they are the kats azz. ive seen plenty of people use them sucsessfully but the shock towers (imho) were never realy meant to handle that kind of load. always had a bad feeling about that.

Don't coilovers seriously limit your tire width capabilities?  Cause I have a friend that just put 17X9 Cobra Rs on with 255 tires and he's having slight rubbing on the strut WITHOUT coilovers.

You shouldn't. There are hundreds of cars that have have coilovers (with suitable C/C plates) and I've yet to read of any problems not caused by a wreck or something similar.

Here is a very old thread about this topic. (1)
