Replacing Intake, throttle body- questions?

Global West but as many will tell you they are not cheap.  I like them as they are round tube, full length, fully powder coated (need to grind that off to weld), and do not hang below the existing stock subframes.

http://www.globalwest.net/1980-88thunderbird.html

If you do not weld and exhaust shop can install them but I would do it with the carpet removed.

Those look pretty good. Price isn't bad. I'm not fond of junk hanging off the bottom either. I'll order a set but will probably install them after I get all the hard stuff done. I'm going to dynamat the floor so that will be a good time for welding. Thanks for the link.

Ron Francis makes a EGR Eliminator, EB-75, $35, so you don't get a light. I am eliminating the EGR valve, solenoid, smog pump, thermactor system. Retaining the charcoal canister and purge valve. I registered the TBird as a "classic vehicle" so I don't have to smog it. Only limitation is "less than 5000 miles/year". Hell I've put less than 10,000 since 2005.The Trick Flow Track Heat heads I'm using have no provision for smog. Finally got the motor put together yesterday after the machine shop screw up. I'll start taking the car apart Monday or Tuesday. I'm hoping for a 3 week turnaround?
Anyone have recommendation for frame connectors?

That Ron Francis piece is just basically a thinner EGR plate. You "may" have issues with the throttle linkage hitting the valve cover using the Ron Francis piece,  as it puts the throttle cable closer to the intake manifold. You would need that little electronic piece, I linked to above, that plugs into the EGR EVP sensor plug to trigger a code 33. That will turn off the check engine light and disable the EGR function in the EEC.

The Ron Francis EGR eliminator is electronic and just plugs into the EGR connector. I'll mount it on the firewall on the passenger side. It's about 2in x 3/4in.

Ah. Well when I Googled that part number it took me to Ron Francis's site and showed me this: https://www.ronfrancis.com/prodinfo.asp?number=EB%2D75

Do you have a picture of what you have? I'm curious if it looks like the one I linked to previously from LMR: https://lmr.com/item/LRS-9428A-EP/Mustang-EGR-Eliminator-Plug-86-93

I've been using the LMR plug for the past 3 years with no issues. Actually the EGR eliminator is just 3 resistors in the plug case. It probably would cost about $2 in parts to make. I just used the plug because it looks cleaner and I didn't feel like laying over the fender to solder/heat shrink the resistors into the wiring harness :hick:.

That plate that comes up on the Ron Francis is not what I have. I'll take a picture of it tomorrow.

I bet that the Ron Francis piece and the LMR piece are the same thing, probably from the same vendor.

Engine is looking good. What valve covers are you running?

This is the Ron Francis EGR Elinminator. Different wrapper but the same as you have. X
The valve covers are fabricated aluminum from White Performance on Ebay, $180. They are nice but I can already see they will be a real pain to keep that way. The other picture is more progress today. Pulled the motor on the TBird. Now the work really starts.

You know, you're GOING to need a tune, and IF you need a tune, disabling EGR is just a simple 2 digit switch in said tune.  That's what I did on mine.  No mussing about with block-offs, plugs, or any kind of kits.  Just turn it off in the tune.

Yup. Basically the same thing.

It's getting there. Good luck!

You know my POS still hasn't been tuned and it runs great. No weird start up or idle issues. Drives like a new car. I know I'm leaving power on the table without a tune. Eventually I'll either buy a Quarter Horse or have it tuned. It should be done.

OP is running a more aggressive cam than I am. My setup is still able to idle in the factory idle spec so it doesn't freak the EEC out. He may not be so lucky.

I'm going to put it on the dyno when I get it back together. To put it on a dyno here will cost me around $800. Just want to get it running as good as I can in the meantime. I'm not too well versed in the programming department. I'll have to rely on the guy running the dyno. I'm an old guy who likes his flip phone. I still have to use the EGR spacer because of the angle the BBK cold air tube runs through the front fender. Just using it to move the throttle body out 2 inches.

Here's how I'm using the EGR spacer. Hey guys I want to say "Thank You" for all of the help. It is appreciated. I've tried to get the best parts I can and to just build a good street car. I have been taking it out to a car and coffee local show on Saturday morning. There's around 300 cars that show up. I've talked with 3 people who know what I've done to the car in the last 6 months. A little disapointing.

I think you've got a great looking car. Like the 2 tone silver.

I still use the standard size 70mm EGR spacer as well. I just made a block off plate out of sheet aluminum vs. paying for one, because it was a lot cheaper.
