Why not to buy a GTR March 31, 2009, 02:18:16 PM Ever heard of a car that the first maintenance stop was $2000? Me either, this is a bit ridiculous.http://blogs.edmunds.com/roadtests/2009/03/2009-nissan-gt-r-bargain-supercar-gets-expensive.html Quote Selected

Why not to buy a GTR Reply #2 – March 31, 2009, 02:28:06 PM Yes and the automatic transmission is so gutless it cant handle using the Launch Control FACTORY FEATURE and it voids the warranty too. Gahhbage!!! Quote Selected

Why not to buy a GTR Reply #5 – March 31, 2009, 02:40:48 PM Meh, its okay. The GTR is just a giant vehiclular fail. Quote Selected
Why not to buy a GTR Reply #6 – March 31, 2009, 03:03:58 PM The average joe can't afford one of these. I think I'd rather buy an Evo and mod it anyway, alot cheaper that way too. Besides I'd have a hard time spending that much on a car even if I had plenty of cash. I refuse to believe that I couldn't buy a car and improve upon it, thus creating a better car, and still come out cheaper. $80k is alot of money. Quote Selected
Why not to buy a GTR Reply #7 – March 31, 2009, 03:04:01 PM Lamborghinis and Ferraris (and some Porsches) have routine maintenance costs of around $5K to $25K, sometimes higher. The carbon ceramic brakes alone cost more than what most of us make in one year. Oil changes have been known to be $5K.This really isn't new information. In fact, the GT-R is on the low end of the exotic car scale in that respect. But the bottom line is, if you have the money for one of those cars, you'd better have the money to properly maintain them down the line... How about, reread the quote above. Doesn't matter what car it is, or what the price range is, or what label the marketing department slaps on the vehicle. This is all you need to know. If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch. Quote Selected
Why not to buy a GTR Reply #10 – March 31, 2009, 03:20:43 PM I agree but this is by no means a supercar. The price for the oil alone is stupid. What is in that stuff, the souls of African children? Quote Selected
Why not to buy a GTR Reply #11 – March 31, 2009, 04:11:54 PM I think he's getting at the fact that those cars that have the $5000 oil changes typically base well above $100k. The GTR is a piece, though. And good luck getting one for anywhere within $25k of MSRP. Quote Selected
Why not to buy a GTR Reply #12 – March 31, 2009, 04:36:37 PM It may be a fail with the mechanicals, but I saw one in person today.....DEAD shagY. The styling is spot on....and if they get the mechanicals and the outlandish price i check, its a neat car. Quote Selected
Why not to buy a GTR Reply #13 – March 31, 2009, 04:47:21 PM Personally I don't really get it, why buy an expensive car like this when you can spend less and BUILD a better car? I guess I'm cheap or maybe I'm just that kind of guy but supercars and expensive GT cars are beyond me. Quote Selected
Why not to buy a GTR Reply #14 – March 31, 2009, 04:55:36 PM The R34's or whatever looked cooler....I'd rather have a '98 Skyline and mod that. Quote Selected
