Yeah, well.......... deal with it.

The old beast has 363,000km, has already been bashed several times, front suspension is shot, engine leaks like a sieve, valvetrain sounds like ball bearings in a tin can, driver's seat is boogered, windshield is cracked and "sandblasted"  (a joy at night in the rain), water pump and heater core both leak if the RPMs come up, and rear brakes are down to metal and have started leaving puddles of brake fluid on the ground.

I gathered all the part numbers to redo the brakes and was just about to order everything when the tranny started slipping badly in OD (more than it had been) and sometimes in 3rd. Driving to work (25 miles each way), the steering started binding, and not wanting to return to center without help.

I whipped out my trusty pocket calculator, quickly added up the cost of all the parts needed to bring it back from the brink, and........

If it's shaped like a brick, has the aerodynamics of a brick, and is even the color of a brick.....

GL? , not even a turbo.
Still, it has 114 tire-shredding horsies (at 5400rpm).

Needs 8 fog lights and a BIG hood scoop.
Death awaits you all with nasty, big, pointy teeth.

I had an '85 740 GLE that looked almost exactly like that, except mine was a four-eye. Same colour and everything. I loved it. It was slow as hell, but was a tank - I even used to drive it on the woods roads during deer season. Unfortunately it was the car I had my accident in back in '98 (was rear-ended by a Mazda 626, it ended my career in mechanics). I could easily see myself in another 7-series, though the next one would definitely be a turbo wagon.

If you find it's got too many doors you could always find yourself a 780. I considered buying this one a few years ago:

Yeah well, a 5.0 shouldn't reside in an '84 GT Turbo...just my opinion...so there ;)

WHHHHHHAAAAAAAATTTT!!!! Why have that shiznitbox when you could get a Fairmont or LTD that is way cooler and would accept all the stuff you have in your garage when it gets to that point. The car is virtually clapped to the max...and if it was a Ford, you could justify bringing it back from the dead....that Swedish pen 15 pump is justifiably lame. No wonder the big three are dieing off, people think it is OK to own a car like this.........

Am I crazy???

Yeah, well.......... deal with it.
