Dear Lord, how stupid people can be... January 06, 2009, 07:42:38 PM So I advertise all my TC Electronixx stuff on Kijiji (similar to Craigslist). I get the usual bevy of "Will this work on my car" questions, mostly regarding the headlight flashers, but never hear from the person again after telling 'em it will. Kinda just like eBay, but it's free.Anyway, one of the items I have listed is a headlight flasher for $35. In the ad I have two pics that are essentially two frames of the animation in my sig, but bigger (there are two pics because Kijij doesn't show animated GIFs, so I have a pic with each headlight lit). The key here is $35. Years of selling on eBay and dealing with idiots has taught me to make sure my ducks are all in a row - the ad clearly states what is and isn't included (in this case, what's included is a module for flashing the headlights, IE a "headlight flasher"). So today I get the following email (remember, the ad is for a $35 item). No, it isn't the fraud you're all expecting, where somebody offers to send $50000 and expects me to cash his money order and give him change. It's just a really, really stupid person:Quote from: some random meatheadis the car for sale or the lights and whats wrong with itSo for $35 this nut job expects either a pair of lights (which sell for something like $150 USD on eBay) or a whole frickin' car! And then asks what's wrong with it?!?!? Thirty five dollars! I felt like writing him back and saying "Dude, I can assure you, if I were selling a car for $35, everything would be wrong with it"... Dear Lord, how stupid people can be... Reply #6 – January 06, 2009, 09:10:24 PM lol. I know your pain! I sell a lot of old lawnmowers on eBay for my job (John Deere salesman). I honestly think the worst part is when the people show up to pick up their mower. More often than not they are complete wierdo's. I had a guy with 6" long fingernails (yeah freaky) show up with an minivan and expected me to load a GARDEN TRACTOR in the back of it. For some reason eBay just brings the idiots out of the woodwork. And it doesn't matter if you cover every single little hairy detail when describing the item, they will always ask a question pertaining to something you went out of your way to make clear in the listing. No, they were not exactly the cleanest/nicest ones either.I have a 2 lb spool of MIG wire on ebay that I don't need anymore, I paid $18 and used a very small amount of it, so I listed it for $13 with a "best offer" option because I figured I'd get a little haggling and be able to sell it easier.Instead, every couple days someone will offer me $4 or $5 for it. :dunce: Quote Selected
Dear Lord, how stupid people can be... Reply #14 – January 07, 2009, 01:41:28 PM yep. listed an rc helicopter and was very spacific aout my bottom price and very spacific on what i would trade fore. got all kinds of super low ball rediculous offers as well as trade offers for stuff that was nothing like i was looking for. listed the cobra bumper and hood for local pick up only and the bumper was trade only for an earlier one. got more how much shipped too or how much for the bumper questions than i did spam....
