Turbo Coupe gauge cluster question... July 07, 2007, 10:54:07 AM I JUST bought a TC gauge cluster from E-Bay with the 140 MPH speedo (clouds part, sun shines, angels sing.......).ANYWAY,I have a 5.0 car.Do I swp my tach into that cluster,or that speedo into mine? Quote Selected
Turbo Coupe gauge cluster question... Reply #1 – July 07, 2007, 11:40:35 AM No real difference, but I'd swap the speedo... Assuming your gages are OK... Could be like me, I had to swap 'em both... Quote Selected
Turbo Coupe gauge cluster question... Reply #2 – July 07, 2007, 11:43:59 AM The gauges in the Sport are fine.I figured the tach from a turbo Coupe wouldn't work because it's for a 4 cylender car.I don't mind swapping the speedo.I'm just happy to finally have one. It'll be nice to actually know how fast I'm going. Turbo Coupe gauge cluster question... Reply #3 – July 07, 2007, 11:46:52 AM If everything in your current cluster is working properly, I would just swap the 140 speedo into your current cluster. Brent:cougarsmily: Quote Selected

Turbo Coupe gauge cluster question... Reply #5 – July 07, 2007, 04:07:28 PM not to take over this thread but i got a question, say you have a 5.0 and you had the full digi speedo and you wanted to put a turbo coupe cluster in instead of the regular 5.0 cluster, will the 4 cylinder cluster work ? Cause I tryed doing it and it did not work for me , i hope it was just the cluster cause i know for sure i wired it correctly. Oh and fyi i did change the things nessessary for the anologue cluster. Let me kno Quote Selected
Turbo Coupe gauge cluster question... Reply #6 – July 07, 2007, 04:52:59 PM You have to change sensors and wiring.I wouldn't do it.I wanted the buttstuffog gauges for a long time and to get rid of my digital gauges. After I got the Sport with buttstuffog gauges,(85mph),I hated it and wished I had my digital back (I had done the 199mph upgrade).I felt that way until this morning when I won the 140 mph speedo. Those 140 units are hard to come by,and when you do,they are not cheap at all.I've seen them from $125.00 up to $300.00.Crazy.If you haven't done the 199mph upgrade,do it and call it a done deal.I had my digital gauge up pretty high, and it was nice the first time it actually didn't stop at 85,and it kept climbing over a hundred mph.Just a thought.Oh,and about hijacking the thread.Jump in anytime and join in.No worries. We're all in it together. Turbo Coupe gauge cluster question... Reply #7 – July 07, 2007, 05:29:15 PM Thanks Vinnie . I do have the nessessary sensors for the upgrade which is temp sender oil sender and and fuel sendin unit. I followed wat the coolcats site said and the only things that worked on it was the lights ,blinkers and door ajar. So i was thinking of doing the autometer gauges and have a friend wire it up for me. The reason why i wanted to change to anologue gauges was cuase it looks nicer IMO and cause in my digi dash it i couldnt read the gas gauge good. Quote Selected
Turbo Coupe gauge cluster question... Reply #8 – July 07, 2007, 06:54:00 PM I would think that installing Autometer gauges from scratch (completely new wiring) would be much easier than tapping into the existing harness.I may be wrong, though.I was getting VERY close to different gauges,or,installing a Stang speedo and run a cable to the tranny to drive before this morning and my E-bay find.Oh,I don't think the TC tach is a direct "bolt on" so to speak. It's set up for a 4 cylender engine.I heard that it can be changed, but I don't know how.I'd watch E-bay and when you see someone selling parts from a 5.0 T-Bird,ask them about the gauges. You may be able to get a set cheap.I'll look out for a set for you. Unfortunately the '85-'86 tach is entirely different internally so the instructions do not apply to those...http://www.coolcats.net/tech/advanced/4to8tach.html Quote Selected
Turbo Coupe gauge cluster question... Reply #13 – July 08, 2007, 01:03:42 AM I'll just install the spedo into my Sport's cluster and call it day.Or,call it 30 minutes.Shouldn't even take that long. Quote Selected
