General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Good day on dyno
What a fun thread to happen upon today! Sitting here contemplating what to do after I sell my '01 GT Convertible Mustang, and I started doing searches.  I built a few TBirds back in the mid-late 90's and have always thought about maybe building just one more.  I'd love to find a decent '87-88 Sport and go from there since that's what my other cars were.  I STILL love the body lines, although I would like to freshen up the interior a bit.  Anywho...Thanks for sharing your build!  It looks like a lot of fun!  My last '88 Sport was a handful, and I really miss it!  331 Stroker motor motor, 8psi Vortech, T5 conversion and Turbo Coupe 8.8 rear for disc brakes all around.  It wasn't the quickest Fox body around, but it held it's own against all the Mustangs, and was an amazing canyon carver.  All while looking bone stock.

I feel the itch coming on again...  Some of you old timers might remember my old Geocities pages...The ThunderCoupe Home Page...  Time to go shopping...  :)

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / 88 Sport for sale (eBay)
This is a pretty well equiped Sport...pretty much all the options available...  I've been watching this auction for a couple days, but the timing just isn't quite right for me to pick this up.  So, I thought I'd post a link to see if anyone else might be interested.  I wrote to the seller, and they claim it is a rust-free car...drivable home, but needs a couple tires...good shape other than the clear-coat.  Windshield is also bad, but "Buy It Now" includes a new windshield...  I was hoping to pick it up as another "stroker" project, but it's not gonna happen right now...too many other projects going on!  :(

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Lowered my 87, but she leans
Quote from: 46Tbird;108693
What's wrong with cutting springs?  It's cheap, firms up the ride, and is "adjustable." ;)  Plus, if you get a lean, it's easy to fix. :D
When you cut springs, you will almost always change the temper of the spring material, which will have an impact on the spring rate and strength of the metal.  I've seen way too many cars lowered by cutting the springs which ended in severe handling problems, and even accidents from loss of control.  Yeah, it's cheap, but is it worth the risk?  Not to me.  Cutting springs is a very bad idea.

User Rides / Second Fox!!! I got a Bird (more pics)
Huh...nice :birdsmily: Sport project!  I can think of a lot of things you can do with it.
The first one (obviously) would be to hand it over to me.  :D I'd gladly take it off your hands and build it for myself!!

The second would be to yank the S.O. motor out and build a nice H.O. motor to go in it's place, along with a 5 speed and TC rear-end.  It's definitely a nice base to start from right where it's at!

Third...stuff a BB under the hood and have a blast with the thing!!

Now...Get to building!!!!

Nice work.  I would have used a different drivetrain, but it's cheaper with Chebby stuff i suppose.  I have a buddy that builds 240's and 260's with SB (and a couple BB) Ford drivetrains.  He doesn't get too "over the top" when it comes to the bodywork, but they look nice and are quicker than snot...as long as you keep it in a straight line!

Definitely try to find 68-early 71 blocks.  I had a 71 SCJ stuffed into my 68 GT Fastback 'Stang back when I was in high school.  Tough as nails motor!  Or...you could just go and stuff a crate (SVO) 514 under the hood and call it good!  No one would ever know the difference  :)
