bird help December 01, 2004, 09:39:21 PM hey. im working on my car still. its a standard 87 thunderbird. im doing the works to it that i can afford cause im still not even in college. but having some problems. the bolt pattern is a 4x108 and not to many rims fit it that are bigger than 17s. i want to convert it to a 4x100 which is the standard 4 bolt pattern on hondas n such, so granted any rim will fit. if you know how to do this and what ill need and where to get it, it would be most helpful. check my site it needs to be updated, but its getting there. when i finish the car itll be hot as hell and it wont look like a tbird n e more so itll turn heads, but gotta represent n leave the good ol tbird symbol on it Quote Selected
Re: bird help Reply #1 – December 01, 2004, 09:51:13 PM Nooooooo! Don't do that to a perfectly good bird Why in the world would you want to put import rims on it . Besides import rims would not work because the offset and backspacing on import rims is way different from the tbird wheels. Quote Selected
Re: bird help Reply #2 – December 01, 2004, 10:31:54 PM the offset can be countered but i want to convert it to a 4x100 anyway Quote Selected

Re: bird help Reply #8 – December 01, 2004, 11:26:05 PM convert to 5 lug and you will find lotsa rims available Quote Selected
Re: bird help Reply #9 – December 01, 2004, 11:47:14 PM Yes do the 5 lug swap, anything but a honda bolt pattern. If you do the 5 lug swap you can use anything that fits on a mustang. All you need is the 5 lug rotors, calipers, spindles for the front and new rear axles out back along with the assorted brake hardware. Quote Selected
Re: bird help Reply #10 – December 02, 2004, 12:31:18 AM Dont most ford cars use the same 5 bolt pattern? Quote Selected
Re: bird help Reply #11 – December 02, 2004, 01:40:04 AM i doubt you can convert to a 4x100 pattern at all without makeing coustome axle shafts and front rotors, so if its rims your after, go with the 5lug conversion off a 94-98 mustang, or front rotors and brakes off a mark7 and rear brakes and axle shafts off a 94-98 mustang. theirs millions of wheels for that pattern anyaway and you get the proper spaceing. this will be far easier than makeing coustome rotors and axle shafts. and as for import rims,.. i'v seen civics running 10s with weld drag lights and slicks and if im not mistaking most mustang guys run them as well. wheels are wheels no matter what the bolt pattern... Re: bird help Reply #12 – December 02, 2004, 03:40:27 PM well i found wheel adapters that can change my bolt patern to the 4x100 any way for 130 so i think im just going to do that Quote Selected
Re: bird help Reply #13 – December 02, 2004, 04:21:55 PM You should be able to find thousands of wheels that fit. They make alot of different wheels for the 79-93 Mustang, which is the same pattern as the Tbird/Cougars. :ies: Quote Selected
Re: bird help Reply #14 – December 02, 2004, 05:11:21 PM Instead of looking for 4 x 108 try looking for 4 x 4.25.Yes they are the same but one is metric and one is standard. You will find alot more rims if you look for the 4 x 4.25. Quote Selected
