? about photos

Hi, Im new to the forum. Iv been on Erics website thousands of times and never sent him pics of my car. Here I tried to post some on the photo section but it said they were to big. It said it can only take pics that are 19.5 kb or smaller. Mine were over 100 kb. Im not to good with this stuff so I was woundering how to get around this or what to do to get the pics on here. thanks

19.5 KB? nah man it just has to be less then 100 kb. (or 97.5kb i think).

To get around it, you might have to put your pictures somewhere else on the net and link back to it from here using a [URL] or [IMG] tag.

There could be two causes:

1) Wrong file format. If your pictures are of the BMP variety (or any other "uncompressed" file format) they will be too large. Try opening them in a photo editor such as Paint Shop Pro and then save them as a JPG format. This will reduce their size by 90%

2) Photo is physically too large. If your photo is larger than 1280X1024 it is simply too big and will have to be resized. Most photo editors have a tool that allows you to resize a photo. Ideally it should be no larger than 800X600 (some people still have dialup, remember), and at the maximum it could be 1024X768

I've only played with it a bit, but I copied this down:

gif- Limit for this filetype is 19.5 KB.
Limits are 620 x 280.

jpg- Limit for this filetype is 97.7 KB.
