Went out looking at cars today...

That's the 1st pic of Guard I've seen where it doesn't look gray.  I think I'd have a hard time choosing between it and Competition Orange.  Both are really nice.

It is really nice in person. That Guard GT I saw sitting on the showroom floor was a base GT with a stick and the track pack. I really wanted to trade the wife's car in on it. She would have killed me as her Mustang is her baby, kind of like me with the Thunderbird. Besides being grabber blue it's an awesome color anyway.

Maybe I should trade my Focus in........

Grabber blue is pretty awesome as well.

I've been  after a new Focus ST lately, I think they'd be an extremely fun daily driver and pretty useful with the hatch back.  Bad thing about a Mustang as a DD is 1.) interior space 2.) winter driving capability.  I don't know if you have kids yet but the back seat is darn near useless in a Mustang with car seats.

I'm 43 and single, so back seats are not an issue. If they ever become an issue I've still got the Pimp Sled and for winter I've got the Avalanche. Got it covered :D

This car will very much be my mid-life-crisis car

No kids yet. My wife wants to keep the Mustang when we have kids and just buy a sedan. So it will end up being Thunderbird, Mustang, Focus, and some sort of sedan in our fleet if/when kids arrive. I can't say I blame her for wanting to keep the Mustang. I even agree with her.

Tell ya right now, we have two SUVs for daily rides....with a 6 year old, a 5 year old (going on 19) and a 6 month old, there's barely room enough!

Not sure when the explorers/mounty got 3rd row seats, but I need one. I can't do a car for a family hauler...I need ground clearance, 4x4, and if possible, enough torque to pull a 4'x'6' trailer with a load of wood.

I also want to keep it in the Blue Oval bunch...I've had enough of some of the gobbledygook bullshiznit Kia has cursed me with...I'm sure it could be worse though.

Funny you should say that.  I have three kids now, but we still went out looking at cars a while back.  We looked at everything from Viper to a Maserati to a Tesla and my wife finally said, "I really want a Mustang.  It's the only car I recognize and say, I want that."

I have my eyes on a 2007 Roush 427, but it's on the east side of the US, and my work travels haven't taken me there yet.  It'll probably sell before I get there.  My uncle was the definition of "the millionaire next door" and he taught me to be frugal when things aren't necessary.  In the end, I'm really cheap and can't spend the money on just another toy, no matter how much I want it.  I already have a nice Ram 4x4 and a Minivan to sacrifice to the Illinois salt gods.

Alea jacta est... The paperwork is signed and things are in motion. If all goes according to plan the very car pictured above should be in my driveway Tuesday or Wednesday evening. Can't wait!

Well, I went and bought the wife a 2005 Mustang to make up for my buying my 2012 Focus without talking to her first. We shall see who gets a speeding ticket first :rollin:

I almost bought my wife the same thing.  I had to take a last minute business trip and never had a chance to get the cash from the bank...

She wants a mustang that "looks like a mustang from the front" which is roughly defined as 2005-2010 era..
