Great. Once the old time Motorcraft TFI module on mine dies (factory original as far as I can tell) I'll have to find a decent aftermarket one.

So was the TFI failing an issue on all engines relatively equally, or was it most common on the 5.0?
Current: 1986 Thunderbird, 105k 3.8/C5, 2 tone  Midnight Wine/Medium Taupe, wing windows, wire wheel covers.

update,
I have a couple oem units lying around, they also have the very same problem, there is a 1/8'' air gap between the TFI and the Dizzy mounting pad.

And never use a NON PUSH START UNIT!!

Tom,  I'm curious what you mean w/ "non push start" unit.  I've never heard of this,  thanks

OK non push start modules were used on AUTO TRANNYS. They need a higher cranking speed to work. Push start units were for stick cars that could be push started. Reason i never use the Non Push start units is because they need more cranking RPM'S

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

do the number of cylinders matter?
I thought the 4cyl TFI's , 6cly tfi's and 8cyl tfi's are specific to just that.

what do you mean by any stick ford?

Good question, I'd like to know as well. What years interchange for the TFI module, and does 5 speed vs. Auto make a difference?
