Advise on a past sale

I need some input from some of you.
About 3 mo ago I had my procharged 306 up for sale I was origbuttstuffy trying to get 3500. I ended up selling it threw another fourm. The guy I sold it to beat me up on the price pretty good and I ended up letting it all go for 2800 I agreed to basically throw everything I had in the deal including the two sets of brackets I had, an fmu,  i I even threw in an aluminum mustang drive shaft and also halled everything from kc up to DeMoines.
Three mo later I get a text from the guy.

The procharger aparently needs reclocked (I had no idea that it was clocked wrong)

I had the procharger mounted on the engine using the brackets that kept the ac. When I bought the brackets the guy I bought them from sold me kind of a two for one deal one set was with ac and one set was supposed to be a renagade setup. Since I was using the ac setup I never really payed any attention to the renagade setup. Aparently the renagade setup I had was for a D1.
I told him up front that I bought the short block used and didn't do anything to it except for changing the cam. He is pissed because he went ahead and pulled the heads and removed the head studs and is claming that no sealant was used on the studs and wants me to buy new head gaskets (the motor was sold to him with a brand new set of commetic mls gaskets I told him there is no need for new head gaskets just recopper coat and reuse the engine was never fired)

He is also trying to say that I said the heads were brand new (I swear I never told anyone the heads were brand new I said i had my machine shop do a valve job and milled the heads for the new guide plates and roller rockers)

There is a whole list of other nitpickey items he is also complaning about.

He has prety much everything pieced out up for sale on another fourm.

I talked with my brother in law who I got the blower from he is a procharger dealer. He said he would pay to have it reclocked as long as it went threw his shop.

I offered the guy a little money and told him I would pay shipping to and from my brother in-laws shop and the shop would pay to reclock.

He replied that he doesn't want to go threw the shop he just wants me to send him $300

What should I do

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

I actually go through this from time to time and it sucks. First off buyers always complain about stuff after they receive it if they are pen 15s. I sent a set of real expensive connecting rods to a guy for a honda last year brand new and in the box for a song. Like i gave him the rods for like a hundred bucks they were close to 350 brand new as they were. He claimed he only got 3 rods and wanted his money back. So i told him to send me back the rods the 3 he claims he got with the original packing. He did and the packing clearly showed i packed 4 rods. The shipping weight confirmed he got the 4 rods as the box was never compromised when he got it. I sent him back his money and told him to FO!! Just me i hate scam artists. Later on i found out he worked for UPS and does this quite often. Clearly the guy needed one rod and tried to scam me. He might have spun a rod bearing i was thinking and needed only one con rod. So he tried to screw me and i just sent him back the money. I cant take the chance of him bad mouthing me and the shop. This is how these pen 15s work!!! Screw the guy and tell him he knew what he bought and if he didn't he should not be building cars any way. Someone is always trying to screw people.EXAMPLE!!! With the ammo shortage in this country people that do not even shoot or hunt is buying it up just to inflate the price gouge the product and sell it on GUN BROKER. I just spent 40 DOLLARS A BRICK FOR for 22 ammo for the boy scouts merit badge program. Some people just buy stuff to sell and make some bucks ans scam people. Welcome to the world. Clearly this guy just might be doing that. SCREW HIM HE IS A SCAM ARTIST AND A BIG BOY Plain and simple SCREW HIM you gave him a great deal. Just the pro charger alone is very expensive!!!

Ya as is, especially if he cut you on price that much. I'd be more inclined to help him out if he didn't haggle you down, but after it left  your hands its as is, you didn't specify a warranty and he shouldn't expect one.

Tell him to pound sand and stop all correspondence.  No sense dealing with a fool.

In my opinion you cannot really tell him to pound sand.
Sure, you didn't know about the reclocking of the ProCharger, you didn't know about the brackets for the ProCharger.
But you still sold him an engine that should basically be just dump in the car and run. But it isn't.
Sure, it isn't your problem in any means when it comes to terms of law. But wouldn't you be pissed as shag if you bought an engine that had a ProCharger on it that was clocked the wrong way? Or not get the brackets you were told? Sure enough they were Renegade brackets but they weren't for the P1SC.
I'm sorry but I don't think you should just flip him off.
He was expecting a runable engine and I saw your ad before you sold it and guessed it was pretty much runable, but it sure enough wasn't.
About the headgasket you can just tell him to shag off. But the ProCharger thing, if I were you and had any morale, I'd try fix it.

Do you by the way by any chance have a picture of the ProCharger impeller so me or 86T-bird or anyone else can verify that it is actually clocked the wrong way? Otherwise, could you get that dude to send you a pic of it?

Well then you've done what you can to help him. If he only wants $300 and not giving you a chance to make things right, then he can just shag off. He's trying to screw you over.

I agree. You offered to help fix the problem that he described. If that's not good enough, too bad.

I get mad just reading about stuff like this. I hate dealing with dirt bags.

You know sometimes people buy things they think they want and then change there minds. It actually happens to me and JR all the time. Like i buy brackets for a certain size caliper and rotor conversion and then switch to bigger ones and the old parts sit on the shelf. I am building a monster LT1 I know this is a Ford ssits o please excuse me. But i spent thousands on this project and i just thought why not just install an LS motor. So should i sens all the new parts back to the guys i bought them from?? LLOYD ELLIOT would stop doing business with me if i tried that bs. So sometimes people buy things and change directions on a BUILD. It happens all the time. I am willing to bet this is what happened in this case. because if he was hell bent on building this motor why is he selling it NOW!!! If in fact the engine was good and the supercharger is a good umit and the price was agreed on the guy is changing directions> just a thought!!
