If the rear is POPPING on turns and it is built correctly remove the cover flush out the old oil and check the back lash properly and inspect the spider gears. Then install the cover with a gasket. Install 8 OUNCES of GM posi supplement then top off with 75-140 synthetic. This should solve you issue. If the final drive is making NOISE in a straight direction you have sereyous other issues.  Clutch posi units are known for POPPING ON TURNS. This is common and sometimes when packed to tight they do this. I no longer install clutch type POSI units if i can help it Thorsen or Cone types work much better. Just my $.02

Note years back when whale oil was part of POSI fluid additives this was not an issue. When they stopped hunting WHALES and eliminated their oils from posi fluid they needed a substitute for the oil to stop it from POPPING ON TURNS. Gm and ford use supplements that are free from WHALE OILS. Just for the record if anyone is interested in the history of POSI FLUIDS!!!

Actually when the posi units POPS they are built correctly. That is why they POP. If it did not pop the clutches are to LOOSE. A final drive that pops has very good clutches and is a strong POSI UNIT.  I am willing to bet 8OZ of GM posi fluid supplement will be all that is needed. Also check the clearance on the spider gears. They should move a bit when you touch them. Also check the in and out axle play. If the end play is to tight the clutches will have a hard time releasing on a TURN!!
