That is a good point. The stock alternator has a connector rather than a stud for the output terminal. It could be done with a splice and still save some power, but since 3G is so simple, it's a no-brainer if you can buy the alternator.

Lol! Didn't even think about that. I junked my stocker ASAP and never looked back. It's also very difficult to take a good picture of just one wire with all the others in the way!

No one picked up on the gain between the 100A alt and the 140A alternator@ idle!!!!!!!!!!!

Only 10 Amps and that is exactly why these so called MEGA alternators are BS!!!

I am going to say that not one person on this site would need more than a 100A alternator. Unless they have one of those sound systems that need a portible HONDA generator in the TRUNK. Just saying!!

My DURAMAX has a 105A alt from the factory. It is loaded with 3 1100 CCA batterys and all the goodies any other car would have and more. It has 150K on the speedo and the alt is original. And further more it is fed with a number 8 wire.

Also it has not only a Voltmeter it also has an AMMETER. After a cold start and recovery. APP 5 Minutes the ammeter reads a solid Center pointer which means the alt is yawning and carrying the load at basically no discharge or charge indication on the gauge. The voltmeter is rock solid at 14.6 after the truck settles in to float mode. AM I MISSING SOMETHING ???????????

yeah maybe just switching to 3g maybe the best bet
