Lifter Arm for 1987 Cougar/T-Bird Electric Moon Roof (driver's side) February 18, 2013, 04:17:50 PM Anybody have one of these for the driver's side? Mine is broken. I attached a couple pictures of what I'm talking about. You can see where the break is. That is the part I am looking for. I assume one from an '88 would work too, but I don't know that for a fact. Thanks in advance for any responses. Quote Selected
Lifter Arm for 1987 Cougar/T-Bird Electric Moon Roof (driver's side) Reply #1 – February 21, 2013, 11:39:40 AM I had found this on ebay before deciding to go with the gasket that you told me about. I don't know if it even has the arm that you need though, it's listed as glass molding and frame. It's a steal considering that this was $1200 from the dealer when it was available. http://www.ebay.com/itm/150606499403?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649Have you checked with a ford dealer to see if you can get a part # for just the arm? I've had some luck in doing this and have found several odd items that are NOS by calling around to a couple of parts warehouses. They're able to do a national search and find things that I can't find by doing a google search. Quote Selected

I was trying without success to locate a part number in the shop manual. I need the 518838 (or is it 518B38?), but the thing I don't get is I think the left and right hand sides would be different, and I only see one side in the exploded view. Quote Selected

I expanded the image and it looks like 518B38. I would guess this would be a hard part to find but you never know, I've had luck with a few odd things that I didn't think I'd find NOS. I can't find my notes as to where I've tracked some NOS things down but parts warehouses usually will do a nationwide search and tell you what's out there. Maybe you could start with Green sales 800-543-4959.I agree that it would seem logical for the arms to be different on each side. I'd guess that the other side would just have something like the same # with and A instead of a B. Quote Selected

If that includes the arm I need, then that might be the way to go. But I will do a little checking around for just the arm first. Ya never know . . . . Quote Selected

Ya never know . . . . For what it's worth, the one I found was for a 1988 Lincoln Continental. They told me the glass is the same but the frame, motor, etc are different. So according to them the lifter arm or whatever you want to call it would be different. Kind of weird that the glass would be the same but not the mechanics. Ya learn something every day, I guess. Back to the drawing board . . . Quote Selected
