Nice Camaro...  but I want your TC instead.  What year did they go to the LSx motors?  Those years are FAST stock cars.

I THINK 1998.....  Yeah. with a tire they are bottom 13's high 12's Bone stock with the LS Motor and a drag radial.  The weak point in this car right now is the stock 10 bolt rear end.... I'm planning on scattering that early next year so I have an excuse to buy a Strange S60 :)

BTW, Here's a video of the 12.92 pass.  Its not that great quality, but you get the picture. :)  I absolutely RAPED the Camaro next to me off the line, and I beat him pretty good with a less powerful/slower car.  He was on NT ET streets too

97 was when the Vette went to the LSx platform. F-bodies followed up a year later.

Nice looking Camaro. Good to see another one on the board :D Did the prior owner mention what converter is in the trans? I'd be looking at that first before I did anything else if that's untouched.

The bird sits in the driveway :(    It is still for sale....

It leaks past the exhaust valves a decent amount, so it needs a minimum of a valve job.  If its cracked too bad for hardened seats, I was going to buy a boport head and be done.  Everything else is great, and most of the sensors are new. I have to bolt the seats back down, fix a power seat lead, and vaccum it out LOL.  Doesn't leak or burn oil at all.... and has a lot of upgrades.  The body is a bit rough, but overall its a great car.  I just lost interest..... AFTER putting a bunch of money into it LOL

I really don't have room for it anymore either.

I'm trying to figure out what converter the trans has right now, the previous owner sent the trans out, so he wasn't sure for some reason.

It's a shame. The body on my car was pretty rough too. I'll find another one some day, completely rust free that is.

I do not use the Opti Spark on my LT builds. Ls coils do the trick nicely. Or a DELDEQ

Well, if I could afford to throw 800 bucks on a replacement for a distributor, I wouldn't bother with a GM in the first place, lol.

Still, looks like good stuff...which is why Generic Morons should have used something like that in the first place....instead of an ignorant-assed design, placing the (fragile) distributor UNDER the *%&*%& water pump.

By the way...how do you install a water pump on an LT1, and not have it leak coolant in 6 months to a year?

I've put 2 on the Caprice now, they've both failed in less than 2 years...the second time, it ruined my optispark.

I've used an Oreilly's pump, and the second came from a carquest. I put them both on the same way, used orange RTV on the pump, carefully slid it on, all the bolts back in, etc.
Even 88turbo was here, and helped out.

I'm no stranger to a wrench, but I'm apparently not getting something right. Any idears?

Here's another Idea.  When you get a new water pump, drill out and tap the weep hole for whatever size you want NPT.  Thread a brass barbed fitting in there, and run a hose off of that AWAY from the opti.  Works like a charm!  Also, make sure you silicone the seam between the opti cap and the aluminum body.  This can prevent a LOT of issues all by itself.  This is a vented opti I'm assuming, correct?  My 94 was converted to run with a vented cap, so it works pretty good.  My first time replacing one, it took me about 3 hours, from cracking the rad drain to filling everything back up.  I used a brand new Napa water pump.  I'm still not sold on an electric model though.... that would be a good option too.

Another thing, I'd only buy two different optis.  Either a stock AC Delco unit, or what I run right now:  Chandler Motorsports Optispark.  Lifetime warranty, GREAT build quality, and best of all it was CHEAP.  I think right around 175 bucks for the entire unit.  You can find Chandler Motorsports on E-bay.  He's only about 1.5 hours drive from me, and managed to get me my opti in literally LESS than 24 hours... through the mail.  Great guy.  He also sells the opti harnesses just in case.

I'm not biased to any manufacturer. I don't like that Generation of Camaro. The front end looks ridiculous in my opinion. The wheels look really big on it. 18"? 17"s look good on those car, if those are they look huge. The 383 definetly adds to it. I'd rather have a newer Gen Trans Am WS6 with an LS1 made into a 383. I hate LT1's. Plus everyone I know with a Camaro puts headers and a full exhaust with a K&N filter and thinks it's bullshiznit when it runs no faster than a 14.2 at the strip.
