Being in the truck industry, I would have done the exact same thing. I like Dodges appearance, I like a few aspects of Ford, but really, GM trucks seem to just have a better feel. Better quality, better handling, better running, more power. They just feel like a better truck.
It's Gumby's fault.

Thanks for all the replies guys, its always funny to post something non-ford on a Ford based website.  Some people's reactions are hilarious.  I posted my status on facebook as "i am buying a GM truck", and I've never had that many responses to any other status I've ever put up!

I agree...as long as you are talking 1/2 tons.  I don't think anyone makes a truck that can match the Superduty.

Yup....Brand X is better than Brand Y, which is better than Brand Z.
:punchballs:

I've had 'em all, Ford, Dodge, GM...
Sooner or later, they will all leave ya on the side of a road.

I will say this, I absolutely do NOT have ANY love for GM's transmissions, from the TH400 in my old Jeep pickup, to the electronic 700R4-something in the Caprice. They all suck balls.

Otherwise, I'm not to picky about GM. I'd rather walk than own a Dodge...maybe that is because when I owned Dodges, I walked more than I drove...hell.

And the comment about buying American, tax dollars, and all....
If we didn't have to be so coddled and f*ck-all...GM might be in better shape...trickle effect..unions, healthcare, etc. brought GM down. The shiznitty economy didn't help, but didn't cause it.
Anyway, it's about a man's truck, not what we think is better..

What year, what engine, and what (if any) mods are planned? :D

TH400s are the best 3 speed trannys, and if you don't believe me go ask all those drag racers stuffing them behind their Fords.

Well, I wasn't stuffing one behind a Ford, and I wasn't drag racing it either. Yeah, I know they're pretty tough when built for drag racing, none of which mine were.

The 25 or so I had behind an AMC 360 left a pretty sour taste in my mouth. Some made it a few miles, some made it a couple hundred. The one that got me 300 miles from home before deciding to shiznit the bed on me was the last straw. Oh yeah, wasn't a matter of the pump not being engaged, the tranny rebuilder even put 4 or 5 of em in for me, and those failed too. Dunno wtf the cause was for sure, but I eventually took one from a Wagoneer, and it lasted the rest of the time I drove the truck. Maybe that old 360 I rebuilt in high school made too much power for that wimpy little GM auto :rollin:

Anyway, I'm biased to manual transmissions, I've always had to shift for myself, and I just prefer it that way. Yeah, auto's are faster in the 1/4....doesn't mean shiznit to me, more to life than mashing the gas and steering straight for 1,320 feet ;)
