How does the trim come off the door?

Doing somemore dis-assembly today and figured I would ask to see if someone has done this before so I dont damage the mldg. I have removed this on 87-88 doors but this appears to be a different animal. Its on a 86 Cougar and hopefully the pic will show it good. It is the mldg that runs at the top edge of the glass, also if any of you guys have re-painted these what did you use, the car is a XR7 and I think they should be black but what I have is all worn to the ugly aluminum look. I tried to circle it in the pic but dont know if I helped show it or just showed my horrible computer skills. Threw in a pic of the 3 other Fox's here since I know you guys like pics. Thanks

Oh man, let me see if I can remember. Uh, if I recall correctly light pulling down will get it out. I did this a while back on my 85 for repaint. If my memory is correct I started at the top of the door and worked my way down.

Yes, that did the trick, there is 4 or 5 clips in there. Now from what I found in the search I need to find a Tempo/Topaz and get some new window channels as these are baked

I hope the Tempo/Topaz ones work for the vent window cars else I am screwed as these fell to pieces.

I see the different style run channels available from JC Whitney and might try that route. Has anyone done that and if so what did you do at the corner? My initial thought is to see if I can salvage my corners just because they are pre bent correctly and only use the replacement channel on the straight portions, what do you all think??
