looking for validation on this Z28

Found an 84 vert z28 with cowl hood , red / silver gfx for 2500.

tag on vert was readable , forgot what it said.

seller says these cars never came as verts but prior to delivery to the dealer, orders for verts were so high that cars were chopped as like the coug to accomadate customers.

are these rare ?

There were a few companies making 3rd gens into verts in the 80s, but the only official one was ASC begining in 87 as far as I know.

They, as far as I know, are not a rare as the asc/McLaren Capri and Mustang conversions, but they are not all that plentiful either.

If it's not an asc conversion, I don't think I'd be at all interested if I were you. If it's an asc however, they are quite nice and well engineered.

Not even a real convertible, thats what they call a "funtop" in the festiva world.

Also doesnt look very well done.

Id be looking for rust underneath.

I've never seen that before, and I've been around thirdgens quite a bit.
It's Gumby's fault.

nice car,, not sure on the 302 thing. Chevy 302 hasnt been around since early 70's.
Even if its suppose to be a 305 and he fat fingered the key board, a 305 wouldnt be my choice to HO.

Yeah, that's not an asc conversion... I think I'd pass if I were you.

Here is an asc conversion I found on Ebay:

the name doesnt ring any bells but im certain ive seen that targa looking thing on a camaro before, i thought it was just a fancy cover to protect the t-tops.
im not finding it in my scanned brochures(non gm ones)

defiately not what i would call a convertible camaro.

I've never seen that before, but it's no convertible. It's some aftermarket targa roof kit.

Chevy called the 305 a 5.0, I had a '77 Monza with Chevy 5.0 badges... 302s were the HiPo Z28 engine back in the '60s and used a fairly radical solid lifter cam...

305 is a real 5.0. 302 is actually 4.9l.
