For those of you who don't know yet...

I bought another T-bird.  '84 Turbocoupe 5-speed.  90k miles, currently down for the count with fuel pump/tank problems.  Paid $400 for it.  The daytime pics are from the previous owner.  I tried my hardest to get some good side-by-sides of it and the '85, but most of them suck real bad.

My py pics.  I tried using AutoContrast in Photoshop to lighten them up, but it made 'em grainy.

Cool.  You get that body rot taken care and it will be pretty nice looking.

What color is the interior?

That's one of the things I liked about the 83-84 TC's, esp the 84's.  You could come across some pretty off the wall color combos.  I almost bought an 84TC last year that was a gold color with tan interior....pretty car.

Looks good....long live the tarbo power !

The interior is red... even more twin-ish to my '85.  There's only one actual hole in the body.  That and the one front fender is pretty bad. Oh... and the radiator support has a hole. And the doors are kinda sucky.  But hey, it still goes WHOOOSH!  I don't see any structural rust (like the floors or anything).  Worst case scenario, I can use the drivetrain for something never-before-done (Turbo LTD maybe?)  I really do like having twins, though.

I did side by sides with my 84 and 86 as soon as I got it.  Mine aren't the same color though.  Looks good though.  I am hoping to have my 86 up and running in the next week or two.  I can't wait to hear the turbo again!

Nice. I gotta laugh at the way the chrome stands out on your '85 though - kinda makes a good case for blackout trim.

Is that '84 the one the gas tank fell out of?

My 83 TC clone is keeping the brightwork window trim....

I know, coming from the "anti-bling" guy.... :giggle:
I'm going for "authentic" myself.  The XR-7 redux will be blacked out though.

I can't decide what I like better.  I'd do blackout in a minute on the '85 if I knew I could sand down that bright trim and paint it, but if it's chrome like some mirrors/grilles, then it could be next to impossible.

Chuck, I think I have the interior that you want.  I know I have the right switch panel and I believe you were looking for a steering wheel like the one I have.  It has the funkiest cruise buttons I've ever seen.  It's a set of two rocker switches on the turn signal lever.... I'd HATE to have to replace that.

Carmen, yes, that's the one that dropped the gas tank.  The '84 Cougar did the same thing, but the tank and mounting points on the '85 are rock solid... wierd, eh?  I got all my parts, now it's a matter of motivating myself to get it back together.  I still haven't figured out how to hook up the wires, in that the old oval 4-pin plug disintegrated into nothingness, I'm left with only the wire terminals.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement plug like that?

Here's the interior I was talking about:

Dammit! I need another car!   Glad you finally scratched the turbo itch.

And at least the fuel tank didn't fall off on the highway, right?

Oh, if it had, that car would be a crispy critter by now.

Well, my bright-work around the windows is just bare aluminum..so it should be easy to paint.

Yeah, that is the "good" steering wheel.  I have one in the XR-7, one in the Tbird and a spare in need of refinishing.  I'm always loking for more though ;).  My XR-7 has that stalk-mounted cruise set-up as well.

As far as you plug goes, I know I had to get  one for my old 86 Ranger.  I don't remember where I got it though.  It might be worth a call/trip to the dealer (doubtful).  NAPA might eb able to source something.  Also, some parts places have catalogs for "aftermarket" suppliers for replacement plugs for certain applications.  You might have to have them look it up.
