Tranny problem?? March 17, 2009, 09:57:54 PM I have been thinking of buying this 95 t bird,(I know, not a fox:mad: ) and the guy says the tranny will shift fine in 1st and 2nd, but in 3rd it will just rev up. Anybody got a ballpark idea as to what it could be? Quote Selected
Tranny problem?? Reply #1 – March 17, 2009, 10:21:48 PM According to Baumann http://www.becontrols.com/ourfaqs/aodetroubleshoot_1.htm , that AODE probably has some burned out clutch packs. If it simply wouldnt shift out of 2nd then it could be a minor problem....but if it...."shifts OUT" of 2nd, and jsut free revs without moving the car at all...sounds like some stuff is roached. Tranny problem?? Reply #2 – March 17, 2009, 10:27:00 PM Slipping in any transmission is a bad sign. Usually does not lead to an easy fix. Keep in mind. Its not always the TV cable....Brian Quote Selected

Sits in the lot behind his house now.well ive had a few of the mn-12's with the 4.6 (and I thought it was an AODE??? ) and ive never had a problem engine or tranny wise. Just change the oil/tranny fluid when necessary and it will last. My previous cougar was an mn-12 had 99,000 miles when i got it, and i put it up to 247,000 without any problems, still running strong when I sold it. :D Quote Selected
