We lost the only car key!

Yeah so my three year old picked up the key to our 98 Catera that we had finally decided to sell. Ony to find out yesterday that he lost it, after tearing the house apart multiple times we gave up. Now its going to cost me an arm and a leg to get a key made and then have it set for my car. Too bad I am not a GM tech and can't learn how to program it myself. Aren't children fun?:shoothead:shoothead:shoothead

That sucks!  The very reason I get copies the moment I am ever down to one.  Or, in the case of a newer car, never go lower than 2; if you have 2 you can get a 3rd key cut and program it yourself (usually)...

had a similar problem when the wife and i decided to sell her 1991 toyota corolla. had a buyer coming out to buy within 1 hour of posting it on craigslist. then the title disappeared. luckily, it was in my wife's name, and all we had to do was go to the title office and get a certified copy. they were even able to print one out right then and there.

My son is alot like his dad was when he was little, he likes to take things apart and is good at finding hidden things. If only he would find the key, we've asked and asked but he just looks at us with a blank stare :poke:  and says "I don't know"

Well we ordered out key off the internetfor around $60 (Better than $90) they told us it would only cost around $20-80 to get it cut and programmed, but when I had it towed out there they said "Well we need to remove the ignition cylinder to get it cut and then we'll put it back and program it." I'm so sick of this shiznitty car. We found a really good deal at a Ford dealer nearby its an 02 Malibu with 65K on it I'd rather have a Ford but I can live with it I guess. Its just a DD so its all good.

Yea, get rid of that py caddy man. As far as the malibu, with you being out of work, it would probably be a good deal as the maintenance *shouldnt* be as much as a caddy - i mean like parts and stuff if it dosent have a great warranty.

Well the Catera is actually an imported Opel Omega so getting parts is expensive and trade in on them is horrible.

this is 86XR7's wife.  I just read a bunch of the posts on here and thought, are you serious...a bunch of grown men complaining about their problems to each other, offering advice, and comforting one another...awe!  Leave it to a woman to turn a completely normal thing into something it's not.  What a bunch of whiners!
