Lincoln DOHC, what shoud i do with it?

If you go with a lighter car, get yourself a 96-98 Cobra intake. You won't notice the loss of torque but you will notice the upper end improvements. ;) The IMRCs could go either way, if I could find a decent '79 Zephyr Z7 I'd let you know... ;)

I accually don't want to use the imrc plates because I don't want to buy a rpm activated window switch to make them work; I was thinking the torque loss would be to noticeable.

It probably would in an MN-12 chassis. In fact I'd stick with the Mark computer and everything if you go with a 90's T'Bird. You might want to check with the mustang guys too before you make up your mind on lighter stuff. I know the DOHC swap is popular on GTs and that would be roughly the weight range you're looking at in a later 80s 'Bird. Modular Depot used to be the place to go but it appears to have withered away... maybe modularfords.com?

What ECM are you going to use?

well, after doing some serching on the tccoa, It seems a 4.6 tbird computer is the best one to use...The lincoln unit controls all sorts of gizmos and isn't as easy to adapt to another car. I wonder if a 96' to 98' cobra computer would be a good choice?

What year the MN12 is will drive that. You'd be looking at adding transmission wiring if you use a 89-93 car. Only AOD that bolts up is from a '91(ish) Town Car and they're not all that numerous from what I can tell. Or you could roll in a 5 speed swap as part of the project. :D

My personal opinion is if you want a DOHC in that chassis find a Mark in good condition for $2000 in FL, fly down, lay on the beach a couple days and drive it home. You won't do near the work, it'll cost less even with the airrfare and beach front hotel room and you'll find that you won't miss the 'Bird/Cougar at all.

True that.

the mn12 tbirds and cougars are gross. id skip the hassle and get a better car with 4 valve power. get a mark viii.

if your going to go through the hassle of a swap like that, swap into a fox.

I've been thinking about a mark VIII. I'd like a black 98' with all the options and then I'd just put my t-45 in  and have an extra 4.6 DOHC to build up if I choose. Too many choices!!

And why?? I've seen other lincolns on the tccoa and lincolnvscaddilac with 'em. I would think the only issue would be the computer and some rewiring . Also, I've read about the process of puting the t-45 in...hydraulic clutch, sc pedals and slave cylinder...making an extension for the shifter to sit back further. It all seems possible.

in mark viii's?....show me

mark7's sure, all day long.
i was figuring with the new mustang (05 up) it would now be easier with the shifter style they have but a few years ago when i was looking to swap a stick into the mark viii all the trans were too short and if it did work the console would be all wrong.

just go to lincolnvscaddilac.com and look for threads about t-45 swaps...lots of pics and info. Its the same process as the mn12 thunderbird swap; you have to relocate the shifter back about 6 inches or so by making a extension housing off of the existing housing and adding in a extension link to connect the shifter. The tech is all on the tccoa.

My second vote is a 2000 Lincoln LS.
And give me the 3.9 :D

Fairlane?  did you mean Fairmont?

I want to put a 3.9 and 5 speed in my Fairlane.
