Where to source the 140mph speedo

I am just wondering where to get the 140mph speedo that I have seen in a few T-Birds? I am amusing they are coming from the mustangs.
I have a 92 5.0 and yes I know I am currently speed limited due to the factory program in the ecu, but this is gonna change soon :burnout:

It was a rare, special-order only item....sometimes they pop up on evilbay, but usually go for several hundred bucks.

All is not lost...you CAN make your own overlay, and change a resistor inside the gauge and voila! a 140mph speedo..I can't say how involved it is, as I've never done it. If you search, there's several threads about it.

And no, a Stang Gauge won't work. Unless you swap in the whole dash. ;)
(that's also been done too, again, search is your friend lol)

Ita 86-88 t-bird specific.  it used to be a FMS part.  Very rare.  I paid 250 for mine, NOS.  it only had the test milage on it, and it still had the packaging intact.  i was a ver very lucky person.

Look into nato boards. They have alot of info on swapping out 5.0's to newer thunderbirds that didn't have them as an option. One thing they do is throw in a 94-95 mustang ecu... Aparentally its alot closer then the older fox body mustangs.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

wont help you much, OD that is. you cant floor it in OD unless the aod in those is different than the fox. that is unless you either tune it (not sure if the computer controls od in those cars) or modify it to do so. otherwise your stuck using like half throttle.

The last one I say on ebay was really expensive, anyone interested pm with offers. I'm not looking to make money hand over first, but not looking to "lose my shirt" either.

Also, speaking of speed limitation, the 86-88 tbird 5.0's are limited to 105 mph correct? I just finished my motor swap and knowing that is kinda depressing. Can they be modified(the computers) or changed out to increase this? Without major rewiring at the computer end? Just curious.
