That's what scares me...I already have done some grinding on it.  I could probably grind out more if need be.  All I know is, that hood will be closing one way or another.

Headers and the dipstick are problematic.  I've crimped a couple over time resulting in trips to the junk yard.  A brake line tubing bender may help get it routed properly, minimizing the kinks.  It can take a bit of time and be frustrating

Fastening the dipstick to the header bolt can be another challenge.  I haven't ever come up with something than has looked very professional for that...

Glad to hear you are getting close.

I see that now. lol.  At least I have the dipstick tube from the donor motor I could always use if I crimp this one too much.  It definatley will not work the way it is now.  It is VERY hard to pull the dipstick out and I'm afraid it will break.

I got my stock dipstick tube to work with the factory HO headers as well as my FRPP GT40P headers. I just bent it a little by hand and it bolted right up :dunno:

My issues were with couple sets of long tubes and a set of equal length shorties.  It seems with any aftermarket part install, something else has to get tweaked.  Even after all the years I've messed with this stuff, I'm always surprised!  Still a slow learner...

I may have to cheat on that dipstick deal too.

Should come closer to firing it up tonight.  I plan on running it on stock SO fuel pump for awhile (maybe a week or two)...I don't forsee any issues with this.  Do you guys think it will be OK?

Should be ok. I am better sure a few people have done it without issue. 1WLDBRD I believe.

Just hold off on the full throttle runs until you get the upgraded fuel pump.  It'll run fine in normal driving.  If you run it hard, you'll know if you max out the fuel volume, it will feel like you slammed on the brakes!

Hope you have good luck getting it running!

Yep, I have been running mine quite hard for over 6 months on the stock 302 pump...  No issues yet.:mullet:

Yeah I've actually never changed my fuel pump.... collar rusted to hell...didnt even want to try yanking it apart. I will at some point...but for two years now all has been well...so I dunno. Again I do need to change it to be safe. Im glad it has been okay though.

I will probably wait awhile and let my bank account recover a bit before I buy any more parts :D.  But, I really have done this swap for pretty reasonably small amount of money.

Just make sure you only have 1-2 gallons in the tank when you change the pump. I did mine with half a tank. Not fun :hick:
