Good thing i got me some DOT 3 brake fuild the other day otherwise i almost felt like i could do that sober but good news the car stops great now.

Its a sad world and why do people try and mix 2 good things i don't drink but most people who do like it i do drive and race cars which i really like but 2 good things together makes for really bad things to happen sometimes.

Its really bad about the death but i hope the 10 people hurt will be mostly okay.

What the **** kind of morbid news do you american's have to even show an "in action" picture like that? I mean, It's bad that it happened but to actually show it? that's a whole different level of messed up.

I agree - this is disgusting.

Oh, and not to be a kill-joy or anything, but one of my 2 brothers washiznit and killed by a car directly 5 feet in front of me. I saw the whole thing in slow motion.

I was 11 years old when it happened, but I still can't discuss it without tearing up. I'm 46 now.

I'm glad I skipped over the picture as soon as it started loading.  I had a brother killed in a hit and run 6 years ago and it's still pretty fresh for me. I could have done without seeing the photo.

I don't even watch the news anymore, I can't stand to see all the violence and morbid things they put on it. It's like people thrive on that stuff. I can do without it, thanks.

I do feel bad for the families of the victims here though. No one should have to go through that.

The point was about a horrific accident.  The pic was to prove the point.  In the interest of good faith I have now removed it.

For the members here who have lost loved ones you have my condolences.

It's basically a version of rubbernecking, and we all do it. When people see car accidents they always stare at the wreckage (and sometimes, bodies). The more smashed up the cars involved, the better. Humans are kinda sick like that...

Yup.  Everybody wants to get a closer look.....You know how hard it is to get people to turn around after you close a road at a huge accident where there is someone under a yellow blanket that can't be moved because the crime scene unit has to come and investigate the accident?

The truth of the matter is,,,,,, The thread title told me what to expect so its my own fault for looking.

See, I was gonna put an NSFW in the title, but that wouldn't be correct......I was hoping the way the title was worded that the message would be conveyed.  I've adjusted it a little.

on saturday night cable you can see simulated violence nearly as bad as that pic
..yeah...it's made in a hollywood basp00get, but it doesn't mean some 8 year old wouldn't be scared by it all the same.

take it as i think it was intended....as a lesson not to drink and drive!
...pretty much all news is basically "shock factor"..Carm was right in his post.

And that pretty much sums it up.  Again my condolensces to the people who have lost loved ones to traffic accidents.

As for the twin towers,, I really think the media was in the serious wrong for showing that. These things people should never experience as "addional information" unless they have no choice in the matter.

With the amount of it in the media since the early '90's, I would have to say a great deal of people don't hold that sentiment....

No problem Paul... seriously, I just skipped over it when I saw it was an actual photo of the scene.  I simply scrolled down to the rest of the story/posts.
Thanks though.
Although it is morbid to see, I can understand your point of showing it. It shows the reality of the situation. When people watch movies or tv, the see violent scenes but in the end, they know it is all stunt people and everyone goes home at the end of the day...no one is really killed.
Reality is that there are times when people are killed and can't go home afterward. It's a reality people need to be reminded of sometimes.... to remember what drinking and driving can do. It shows them that those who are killed or injured aren't the only victims. They have families who will never see them again. Families who are affected every single day by someone's decision to drink and then get behind the wheel and drive.
It's a conscious thing that is done, it's not just an 'accident'. You have full control over whether or not you drink and then drive afterward.

I know how hard it is on the officers responding along with the firemen who have to clean up afterward. Many need counseling after seeing things like this.
In my brother's case, he could only be identified by his tattoos. The funeral home wouldn't even let the family view his body, he was cremated immediately after autopsy.  The funeral director is a good friend of the family so he handled everything for us.
The firemen who cleaned up were also friends of the family. they had no idea who he was until later and it really struck them hard... many had to go through counseling for a long time.

Don't feel bad for showing the realities of drinking and driving.... people need to see it so they can truly understand what happens.

Fully agree. I didn't see anything wrong with what the media showed on 9-11. It was nothing compared to what the media showed during the Vietnam War in the 60's and 70's. If anything, the media has shown fewer "horrid" images over the past two decades making the 9-11 footage appear much more despicable.

This bicycle incident is a tragedy. To be honest, I am amazed and glad that only one person was killed. Like most things, this could have been much worse.

My condolences go to those on here who've had loved ones taken by careless drivers as well.

Surely we all have the curiosity when the street is closed. The intersection/section of road at the end of my street has seen 3 people die in the last 2 years. After one of the accidents, I walked to the end of my street and saw someone up in a bucket truck near the tree-tops and I asked what they were doing. "Looking for the body" they said.

This last time a 2008 Corvette was trying to pass a slower driver and apparently wasn't patient enough to see that someone was coming from the other direction (my guess based on the skid-marks in the pic below.) The driver was killed on the scene, but his wife was hardly hurt (tree just beyond end of skid marks)

I just don't care for the actual bodies flying and seeing the twisting of the bodies. I've seen several people die in the city where I grew up and I remember in the early days of the internet looking at morbid accident pictures that left me with PTSD for weeks afterwards they were so gross. If you want, I can post pictures of "brainslide" or some of the ones soldiers snuck out of Iraq - some might wanna puke though. Seeing a car hitting people on a road also had the personal memory I decribed above.

I would much rather have a media which shows the public images of what is really going on in life rather then what's filtered through censorship.  Showing people jumping out of WTC is reality, and sometimes reality isn't pretty or cute.  Reality is what I want to see on the news, not filtered like I'm some 5 year old child.

Yep, and I want my 11 year old daughter to come in the room while I am watching the news and see that too so she can be terrified to death and not sleep for days. :hick:

Would have been a riot if she was watching CNN with me when the family that didn't speak English (because they were Iraqi - duh!) and rolled slowly up to ask about the road block and were unloaded on by two soldiers with machine guns a blazing. Don't worry TayTay, they were just women and children - they have no worth over there any way!

You know which one was the coolest though - remember when that guy took over the highway ramp in California? He put a shutgun in his mouth and we all got to see his brain go flying across the roadway after he put it in his mouth and pulled the trigger. No now that was cool! :)

And thats exactly why when I pull a drunk, (I'm a cop remember LOL) I have ZERO tollerence, patients, sympathy.

It's jail!! Period.

It's amazing that there is no social class that wont do this stupid sh@t.

I've arrested poor people and guys/girls driving $100k cars for DUI.

Makes me sick.
