408 stroker project (For Sale 5/2018)

Again more than 5 months past since I did anything with the cougar,  I'm going to offically put it up for sale or part it out.  If anyone is interested in the cougar whole,  as a roller, or the drive train let me know through PM.  I'll give you guys first dibs before it goes on the mustang sites and craigslist.

I recently moved and don't have a garage to store it in anymore so I've been storing it in a friends garage thats about 30min from me so It's really not working out logistically,  and for the past 5-6 years I just don't have the time.  Sorry to do it but it is what is and I have to stop fooling myself.

I would consider partial trades of a motorcycle (beginner sport bike would be what I'm looking for Honda CBR 250 or something similar),  I'm looking to get into bikes and could easily store that in my yard

Sorry to hear this. I remember you urging me to keep my 'bird and not give in. Years later, I wish I had listened.

You have to do whats best for you. Good luck with the sale.

Lol I hear you Jim.. I've been hanging on to it for about 4-5 years.  I really don't have the time for it anymore.  Now that I would have to drive to the car to mess with it was the icing on the cake.  I haven't even seen it in 3-4 months lol

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

I'm back.. car isn't for sale anymore,  decided to keep her.

Little update,  did some work to the cougar Saturday.  New battery, adjusted clutch.. and other small  like that.  Went for a nice ride with her,  running great. I still think theres an issue with the brakes,  the pedal is slow to come back up.  Getting windshield, tires, alignment, wideband O2 and finishing up tune in the next month or two.

I'm similar to you 11" brakes up front, 10" drums in the back.  I'm running 73 mm calipers from a Mark VII in the front......  What master cylinder are you running?

yeah v8demon,  all stock body lines.  The only thing I did was put one of those adapters on the front to work with stang line and the cougar body line.  One of the sides was the proper size fitting.  I bought one of those power bleeders too and bleed the  out the system twice and bench bleed the master cylinder twice.  I tried two master cylinders the one that came with cougar and the one that came from my black 88 tbird.

**edit**
quick summary:
parts are:

mustang booster
mustang 11" calipers and lines
the master cylinder from my old tbird (and tried cougar master cylinder)
10" cougar 8.8 drums
no fluid leaks
good stream when bleeding system.

Brake pedal travels to floor and is slow to return,  than when pressed again the resistence on the pedal is slightly better.

The Mustang booster and Cougarbird booster are different parts IIRC.  Got a Cougarbird one laying around?

Also, I know with the 73 mm calipers and 11" brakes the stock master makes for a mushy pedal.  This is PROBABLY your issue.
