Converting a t5 bird to a4ld tranny

What is needed to do this conversion I have the tranny the converter and everything. What I want to know is if the connectors that go to the tranny needed and what are they for only for the lockup of the converter or what else. Also is this harness seperate or is it together with the engine harness?

You need to decrease your hp so you don't blow it up

I would not choose to use an A4LD man, but just in case, the connector os for the OD, and the Lockup if I am remembering correctly.  I know for sure it's for the 4th gear, and I know that it has 3 terminals in that plug, that I belive are 3-4, lockup, and ground.  Its just been so long since I have done one of those, hard to recall.

If you're gonna go with an automatic, go with a C4. The A4LD is weak.

Nobody needs one of those transmissions dude, those things are turds.:toilet:  Even though the '05 and newer Mustang uses a trans that can be traced back to the A4LD, they have been greatly improved upon.

The A4LD is different from the Mustang to the TCs... The Stang only uses the EEC to give OD... The Bird trans also has has the lockup converter controlled by the EEC... Reason I know this, I sold my A4LD to a friend for a '88 Mustang, he had to swap the valve bodies and the plug on the transmission to make it work...

I assume you know you'll need a automatic EEC...

Also you'll need a shorter driveshaft, plus the A4LD cross member and brackets that bolt it to the frame rails.. The std cross member mounting for the T5/AOD C/M cannot be used due to the much longer A4LD...

A much easier conversion would be the C4.  The A4LD is just not what you are looking for man.

i never thought i'd see this post! i am in the process of swapping my a4ld to a 5-speed.  you will need the automatic computer as well as the tranny wiring harness from an automatic car as well as the vacuum lines. my a4ld is on the floor and i dont dare sell it as i'd get laughed at.
