Fuel Pump Stays On? (Problem Solved)

It sounds like the fuel pump is staying on after the car is shut down.  Happens 3 out of 4 times.  Is it an electrical problem?  I could understand if it was trying to fill the lines for a few seconds, but this thing stays on long enough to drain the battery. FWIW, the car has a Kirban AFPR.

Perhaps the FP or EEC relay is sticking.  The FPR would have nothing to do with it.

if the fuel pulse relay is bad it will couse the pump to run non stop but only when direct current is provided through the fuese box .ie key turned on .but what about the electric part of the ignition switch is there any other circits open or just the pump when the key is off...id start at the relay first

It's just the pump... nothing else.  Where is the fuel pulse relay located?

like said, the relay could be sticking.

when you shut off your car,, and,,, if the pump is still running,,,,
go back to the trunk and flick the relay with your finger.  if it shuts the pump off then yes the relay is sticking.

If it still runs and you cant get it to stop by tapping on it, the EEC tan / light green wire is supplying a ground to the relay coil keeping it energized.  If this is the case, the EEC is defective.

If you have never been back there messing with the relay or jumpering things incorrectly, then likely its just the relay is going bad.

the same relay can be found on ford trucks near the air cleaner (same rating and size and most important ******SAME COLOR****
