Ranger tranny. Reply #4 – November 06, 2007, 10:51:35 PM Without plunking down some coin...just keep looking for a T-5.You can make the 2.3 ones work and, while not ideal, they will get the car moving. Quote Selected
Ranger tranny. Reply #5 – November 06, 2007, 11:51:56 PM i thought the ranger manual trannies depending on what drive(2wd,4x4)were made by mitsubish or mazda? Quote Selected
Ranger tranny. Reply #6 – November 07, 2007, 01:50:45 AM They are...it's Mazda M5, basically a (somewhat) lighter-duty version found in the half-ton trucks with the 300" 6-banger and the 5.0.ALL 5.8 1/2 ton trucks came factory with an auto trans. The M5 also came in the SuperCoupes and SC XR7's.Theoretically, you *could* use one, but I wouldn't know what it'd take to run it. Ranger tranny. Reply #7 – November 07, 2007, 11:18:29 AM not being ideal and having the car move, is better than a AOD that slips. Quote Selected
Ranger tranny. Reply #8 – November 07, 2007, 11:40:32 AM Well, my idea is, if the M5R2 can take 330lb-ft from a 3.8SC, it can take a decent 5.0 or 2.3t. Quote Selected
Ranger tranny. Reply #9 – November 07, 2007, 11:51:07 AM Isn't the M5R2 (SC) trany a different length than the T5, ie longer? I know people who want to put a Mustang T5 in their SCs but the trans is too short. Quote Selected

Ranger tranny. Reply #11 – November 07, 2007, 12:50:04 PM Ah I knew it was one of the two Quote Selected
Ranger tranny. Reply #12 – November 09, 2007, 09:49:51 PM I'd keep looking for a stang T-5. I have a flywheel/clutch setup/bellhousing for a 5.0 T-5, just no tranny anymore. Yes Chuck, I actually found the bellhousing and flywheel I told you about last year. It was hiding in the attic of the garage. :hick: Quote Selected
Ranger tranny. Reply #13 – November 09, 2007, 10:33:51 PM im gonna use a 2.3l mustang 5speed for now.. with a 90 probe throwout bearing Quote Selected
