TOWN OF FRIENDSHIP — A Good Samaritan with a floor jack may have saved the life early Thursday of a 19-year-old Oshkosh man who was partially pinned under a car in the town of Friendship following a rollover accident.

Joshua P. Wiese was taken by ambulance to St. Agnes Hospital and then transferred to Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah where he was in good condition Thursday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The driver of the car, Sarah A. Paluge, 19, of 152 E. Scott St., was listed in fair condition Thursday morning at St. Agnes Hospital.

Paluge was traveling north on County Trunk RP/Van Dyne Road near Kinker Road around 3:15 a.m. when her car traveled off the road and crashed into a tree, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department release.

Wiese, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the car, said Capt. Dean Will of the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department. He was partially pinned underneath the 2000 Mercury Cougar when it rolled over.

Paluge was wearing her seatbelt and remained in the car. Wiese had been drinking, but Paluge had not, Will said.

Saving grace

Claudia Eiler was sound asleep when Paluge come pounding on her door at N8593 Van Dyne Road.

“She was hysterical. She said my boyfriend’s trapped under the car,” Eiler said.

The car had struck a tree in Eiler’s neighbor’s yard.

Eiler and her brother-in-law got a floor jack from the garage and were able to get Wiese out from underneath the car. Eiler’s brother-in-law and sister live with her, she said.

“We just kind of eased him out of there,” Eiler said. “He was really alert. He was determined — he wanted that car off his legs.”

Will said the act of kindness was no small feat.

“That may have contributed to saving this guy’s life,” he said.

Eiler said if the roles were reversed, she hopes someone would do the same for her or her children

"He was determined — he wanted that car off his legs"  If it was a fox Cougar, he wouldn't have cared. :D

Anyone wanna bet that he did something stupid to cause the wreck to start with? Artical I read earlier stated the girl was driving and sober. He was drunk and not wearing a safety belt. Been my experience that a drunk passenger can be  near as dangerous as a drunk driver.

And that "Cougar" couldn't have hurt him too badly, it's just aluminum foil and plastic.
