TC Pilot Bearing

Working on the A4LD to T-5 swap in my '87 TC, but I need a pilot bearing since it's practically impossible to get them out of the crank without screwing them up.  Anyone know where I can find one?  It's a 4cyl tranny.

P.S.  This is the same thing as a Pilot Bushing, right?

So you've already tried the "grease method"?

Fill the area behind the bearing (through the hole) with grease (don't leave any air pockets), as well as part of the hole. Find something (a metal rod) that fits the hole as snug as possible, and slide it in, again avoiding air pockets.

Then you whack the end of the rod a few times with a hammer, the rod pressurizes the grease, and the grease behind the bearing pushes it out.
Death awaits you all with nasty, big, pointy teeth.

Interesting.  I have not tried this.  I'll have to give it a shot...  Every website I've seen has no 'Pilot Bearings' for a TC, but when you click on 'Pilot Bushing' up comes a 'Pilot Bearing'.  I'm so confused right now...

AFIK pilot bushing/bearing are the same usage. Some are just brass bushings while otheres are actual roller bearings(fit the same) A pilot bearing for 5 speed '87-'93 2.3 Stang is the same as what the TC's use...

Don't mess with the old one, about any auto parts place should have them...

Alternatively to the grease method, Autozone loans out a pilot bearing puller.

When I rebuilt my engine, the shell from the old pilot bearing was stuck in the crank, I had to use a dremel to grind through the shell so I could get it out.
