Mustang vs Cougar/T bird fox exhaust. January 07, 2018, 06:18:11 PM Does anyone know if aftermarket exhaust from a fox Mustang will fit a fox Cougar? I'd like to replace my over the axel pipes. I have OEM replacements on there now but they are 2.25". The rest of my system is 2.5 stainless. I know the tail pipes are shorter on the Mustang, but I already have the proper length and size on there now so that is not an issue. Shorties to that point are a Pypes stainless system for a fox Mustang. Quote Selected
Mustang vs Cougar/T bird fox exhaust. Reply #1 – January 08, 2018, 07:07:17 AM I have Mustang tail pipes on my car. They have to be lengthened to reach the rear bumper. Too short. I'm getting new tail pipes this year. I believe Stinger has them for our cars in the proper length. Quote Selected

I had to fab a couple hangers, tail pipes with the provided turndowns, extend almost to rear bumper... Note lers were not included, intermediate pipes had to be shortened as Hooker stated system was designed to use about any ler you'd choose... In other words nothing was too short... Quote Selected

I had to add about 8" of pipe to get them to reach the rear bumper. The pipes fit fine from the lers, over the axle, and around the gas tank. Went in like stock. Quote Selected
Mustang vs Cougar/T bird fox exhaust. Reply #5 – January 08, 2018, 02:26:24 PM I used to use take-off Mustang tailpipes on my cars when I was at Kenny Brown. I think on our 30th Anny we had way back when, I used a whole DS 98 Cobra ler/tailpipe assembly. Just fiddled with the intermediate pipe to get it to mate up and put an extension between the stainless tip and the over-axle section. On other cars, I just buy Mustang tailpipes and add the length in the rear, as needed. Quote Selected
