4-spoke xr-7 steering wheel

went to a local backroads junkyard the other day.hadnt been there in years.found an 84 xr7 in great shape.someone had robbed the turbo and radio and rear speakers already.but i noticed an unfamiliar steering wheel.i knew it had to be a factory unit when i saw the cougar head in the center.turns out it was.found a picture of it on erics sight.got it for $20 00.figured it would be good swap material.have any of you guys seen many of them before?first time for me.as for the rest of the car,i wish i could have gotten pics.dont have a digi.was silver metallic with oxford grey interior.even had a sunroof.seen a few other foxes there as well.an 85 or 86 elan, had an excellent interior that was a medium to light blue in color.and an 87 or 88 standard tbird didnt pay much attention to that one other than the fact it was a 3.8 and sunroof.
well, its about 5 oclock or so in the morning.getting ready to head out on vacation. going to st.louis.just waiting on the little woman, wouldnt you know it.could have written a book by now.sssshhh.she didnt hear that.

Good score.

I have one in my 84 XR-7, one in the 83 TC clone and a spare in need of recovering, which I may use in the '80 XR-7  :D I'm always looking for more of them.

Keep in mind that the 83-84's did not have the horn on the wheel, but on one of the stalks on the side of the column.(at least mine have all been this way).  You won't have a horn on your '85 if you swap it out.  Just something to be aware of.  If you ever wander back that direction, I'm always looking for some of the "EFI Turbo" badges that are on the fenders in good condition.

Chuck: Actually, some 84 models were bishagual - they had the horn on the stalk AND on the wheel. My buddy had an '84 'Bird like that (his 83 was stalk only). Just like some early '84 models had clear front turn signals, left over from the 83 model year

Regardless...those "special" steering wheels did not have the horn on the wheel...his '85 does....

well guys, made it back in one piece.made pretty good time too.yeah,i'm aware of the horn delima.i did have a passing thought of puttin it on the bird, but i kinda like my 88tc steering wheel.very comfy.hey ChuckW,as soon as i can get back out there i'll see about grabbin those badges.how are they attached?locating pins and sticky?or sheetmetal nuts from behind?wouldnt want to breakem ya know.i forgot to mention that i grabbed the floor shifter out of it as well.it had the D 2 1 .that'll work a little better with my c-4.now if i could just get rid of that reverse manual valve body,i would be ok.i dont know though!been thinkin about puttin the zt5 back in it.
