searching for Keypad code

I am trying to find out the keypad code for the 88 Turbo Coupe that I recently bought.
I know that on my 97 Mountaineer it was written in white marker on a control box back in the left rear tool compartment ( where the jack is stowed).
Has anyone on here found the location where the code for 88TCs are hidden?
Thx
Ron

it should be on the right side trunk hinge on a little white sticker 5 digit code, if its not there the box is located behind the rear seat theres a panel inside the trunk you can open and it should be on the box as well

Thanks guys,
I looked, but the sticker on the right hinge is missing.....just a little yellow sticspooge left.
I dug around in the trunk, but have not found the box that you were referring to yet. If I am unsuccessful from the trunk I will pull the back seat out & continue searching.

The module is behind the driver's rear seat. Behind the black cardboard panel in the trunk is a pair of steel equipment panels that flip down.  there will be a sticker on the module.

Thanks for all the help.
I found the 5 digit code behind the drop down panel, but it doesn't unlock the door when punched in..........BUMMER.
Any ideas what usually goes wrong with these?

lets start off basic here
what happens when you do the following

-inquire to the previous owner what electrical fixes were done to the car they can recall
-did it use to work and now its not?==find out from the previous owner what experience they had
-does the key pad light up when you press buttons?
-with one or both doors locked, what happens when you press [7/8] and [9/0] at the same time?

associated fuses required for operation are
5, 15amp - pink / orange wire ==hot with key in run position
6, 20 amp - pink yellow source from control module to unlock trunk (ignore this for the moment)==hot with key in run or accy
8, 15 amp - Light Green / yellow which lands on two separate pins at the control module==hot at all times
12, 20 amp - black / white ==hot at all times

page 154 and 155 of my evtm link below or the appropriate evtm page to Foe's 88evtm are my reference items

the key pad gets a chassis ground from its case via a black wire as it is mounted to the door itself..

The previous owner is not available to speak to. His nephew who sold me the car said that he didn't know the key code when I bought the car. The only paperwork I got was the owner's Manual(nothing written in/on it).
No lights when any button is pressed.
7/8 & 9/10 pressed together have zero effect.

ok, good,
now that you have the fuse numbers and amperage and wire colors
verify you have power on the wires going to the module on fuses 5, 8 and 12

you may as well veirfy you are not missing fuses or have one that is blown.

jcassity,
Evidently all fuses are ok, because the only thing electrical on the car that is not working is the keypad.

I will be back near the car on Thursday and will check the lines to the box then.
If the wires are all receiving juice, does that pretty much leave the keypad itself that is nonfunctional.

Thanks for all the help so far.

i glanced at them today for you and they dont look all that bad.  granted my shop manuals are geared around 87 models,, your an 88 and it would not surprise me if we are identical but... there many be slight differences.

Hi:
I was hoping to surprise my grandfather by helping him get the part he needed for his 20th Anniversary 1987 Mercury Cougar in order to fix the door lock on the drivers side door. I'm clearly no mechanic but I've read on your website about looking into a Lincoln Mark VII or mustang solenoid potentially to replace the broken part. That being said, a lot of my issue is I'm not exactly sure what needs replacing since the keypad still operates the passenger side door and opens the trunk...it's just the driver side door that doesn't work. I've called Ford and they don't manufacture those parts from 1987 any longer so he suggested I go to carparts.com and they didn't know either. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Anyhow, I know it's a long shot but I had to try. My # is 678-459-5885 and I would love to talk with anyone who can give me the slightest insight to this mystery.
Thanks so much!! Happy Holidays!
