The factory wheel studs are usually long enough to allow the use of 1/8" or 1/4" thick wheel spacers, with most wheels. You must check the amount of thread engagement on your car to ensure that at least 6 threads are fully engaged after installing the wheel spacer. Maximum Motorsports 1/2" spacers require the use of longer wheel studs for adequate thread engagement.

Neither the hub nor the studs support any load in a properly bolted wheel/hub situation.

Ever use a RING GEAR SPACER. They snapped the bolts all the time. Ain't buying it spacers are dangerous. If anyone has built any rear axles with ring gear spacers you would not believe how many bolts were sheered off. You might use spacers they are legal and happy trails but i never use them and never will. Anytime you increase a bolts length on clamping force you decrease the bolts shear numbers. I know there are many cars that use spacers and have good results but those cars lack HP in my view. There is a new federal law on the books about certification of lug nut tightening procedure torque patterns and nut protrusion. I have to follow this to the T or Kansas just might be in my future.I hate the weather in KANSAS.  Granted once again wheel spacers are readily used and accepted but i say they are dangerous and who the hell am i anyway. just me wont use them!! Some of the OFFSET spacers that use lugs in the body and are hub centric are ok. But i still do not use them not at the speeds i drive at !!! Set the car up properly and forget the spacers. No custom rear end builder recommends wheel spacers.

Also the correct amount of threads that must protrude past ANY NUT to correctly clamp properly is THREE according to industry standards. Other than blind holes of course then the depth of the threads are normally deeper. 6 threads on a nut without protrusion would be a violation of bolt safety in some industries. Example nuclear power plants not your kids bike.  Just me.

Nothing wrong with midwest weather...no earthquakes or pesky hurricanes to contend with.
Twisters can be a bitch, at times.

Feds are going to tell people how to tighten lug nuts? Good god, they can't even possibly know how to work on a car, let alone tell someone else how to do it.

NO BULL shiznit 302 i went to a meeting last week with like 10 DOT BIG WIGS and they laid it on us. Catch this and the torque wrenches must be calibrated every 6 months and you need the paper work to PROVE IT. I shiznit you not. I almost fell off my chair. And further more on public transportation and school buses you better use only factory parts in the front end brakes and all steering components. Other wise KANSAS will be your new address for quite some time. It made me think very hard what the hell is going on in this country right now. Also every commercial vehicle must have ORANGE SEAT BELTS so the cops can see you wearing them. I am as serious as a HEART ATTACK!!

And the lugs must be coted with that tamper indicator yellow paint. OH and the lugs must be re-torqued after 100-200 miles of driving. Aluminum wheels are after 50 miles along with duelies. And catch this the lugs have to have the torque pattern painted on the lugs. You know the pattern like when you torque down a HEAD. I am shocked beyond words. And cant for the life of me digest this and wonder what the future will bring in this business. Naturally as i explained i was blown away with what they were saying

NOTE i asked these guys a question !!! I asked them why MOOG ball joints last much longer than stock ford ones. I also asked them about the law suite won by aftermarket suppliers that states their products match or exceed OEM quality and reliability. Their answer if i get caught i am shagED PERIOD!!!
