Backfiring from new exhaust? March 16, 2013, 06:12:06 PM I recently bought some bbk shorty headers, bbk non catted h-pipe,flowmaster 40s and mustang gt tailpipes for my stock 5.0 thunderbird. A few days ago I took all of the old exhaust out. Now this week i will be putting in the rest of the exhaust system but my only question is will it backfire because of the loss of back pressure? I know i can retard the timing to fix this but will i have to or should it be fine? Thanks to anyone who can help (: Quote Selected
Backfiring from new exhaust? Reply #1 – March 16, 2013, 06:25:57 PM Why would it backfire ???? Other than from a bad component in the AIR system. Other than that you should be GOOD TO GO!! Quote Selected

Make sure you hook up the O2 sensors or you will have issues. Quote Selected
Backfiring from new exhaust? Reply #4 – March 16, 2013, 06:51:17 PM The O2 sensors are in the headers and there are bungs in the h pipe im putting them in to im sure it will be fine as long as they are somewhere in the exhaust system. Quote Selected
Backfiring from new exhaust? Reply #5 – March 17, 2013, 05:34:41 AM You may need ones with longer wires, the old one might be to short to reach them on the H pipe. Quote Selected
Backfiring from new exhaust? Reply #6 – March 17, 2013, 09:49:01 AM Yeah I think thts the main problem I'll be running into I'll just extend the wires so they reach w/o any problem. Quote Selected
