187000 OEM vs 2008 Bearings

Tore apart two separate 2.3T over the past week. One of them I have owned for 6 years and have put about 70,000 miles on, total miles on car was  187,000. The other I just picked up a couple months ago as an extra. Come to find out it was rebuilt 11/08 according to the bearings.

I was pleasantly impressed with the 187,000 bearing wear and very disappointed in the rebuilt bearings wear.
Here is the picture of the bearings. The top bearing in both pictures is from the 187,000 engine.

Mains.

Rods.

...and there was light!

Know what brand the rebuilt engine's bearings are?

I'd say either poor quality, or poor maintenance, or some unholy combo of both..(on the rebuilt engine, that is.)

The mains were clevites, the rods are marked BB?

If you beat he  out of a fresh started engine, or my favorite thing to do, hold it in 1st wot while merging on the freeway before reaching operating temps.

Which is what I do to my cars everyday.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.
