Personally, I'd be happy to never see the white shiznit again. Call me cynical, but 36½ Eastern Canadian winters were just about 35½ too many...

Spoken like a true Nova Scotian who has never had to endure an Albertan one. :hick: We get off easy, buddy.

I love snow. I could do without shovelling for at least another month, though. We got a blizzard over New Years (50cm [20"] the first night, and another 15-20 [8"] on the 1st, but drifts were at least 4' on the driveway).

I got:
-An 800w Home Theatre (finally true surround)
-A 4-pack of fantasy/adventure B-movies (some don't even deserve that distinction)
-A few shirts that are too small, which I call motivational garments
-A nice set of Noise Cancelling Philips headphones
-A set of work lights on a stand (awesome for body work, since they put out so much heat. I used an identical set to work on my Jeep last winter, and they were enough to harden the filler in a non-heated garage.)
-Candies and nuts.
-A 16GB flash drive. (the receiver has a USB slot and plays DIVX :headbang: . I may not get 5.1 from an AVI, but we download all of our TV shows. Satalite TV is a rip-off, and I'm not interested in being a slave to the tube anymore. It's great for old classic kids movies too, and no more trips to the video store. Just give your torrent an hour or two. Two words.... Top Gear.)
-A pair of tickets to see Matt Anderson play at a local cafe on New Years. That was awesome, to say the least. Like SRV, but with 85% of the skill and a better voice. No back up band, just Matt.
-My kids as happy as any two could be, and a wife that has decided to keep me around for another year. ;)

Since at least a week before Christmas our family has had nothing but good news. I don't want to jinx it, just acknowledge it and say thanks to whoever is responsible.

...Except that I have, indeed, experienced an Albertan winter. I suppose I should've deducted a year from that "36½". My father was transferred to Calgary in 1979, and we lived there 79-80. I hated Calgary with every cell of blood flowing through my veins (and I was only 6!). It was that bad that I vowed to never darken the place with my presence again, and 30 years later I've kept that promise even as I watched my friends move on to "greener pastures". The only good memories I have of Alberta are Banff, Lake Loiuse, and leaving.

...And just because it's worse somewhere else (and no matter how good the weather in Alberta, it's always worse because it's Alberta) doesn't mean I have to appreciate the shiznitty weather we get here :hick: I used to love snow, but the past few winters, which have been longer and snowier than I can remember winters ever being (prolly because I've been heating my own house) have simply made me too weary of it to enjoy it. I must admit, though, that even as I'm recoiling in horror at a snowy forecast I get kind of excited while the storm is actually happening...

Sucker :flip: We got spared. My father called me in a panic because he'd lost the keys to the ATV with the plow on it and didn't know how he was gonna move all the snow. I looked out the window and we got like 4". He told me they had over a foot in Sackville (about 1/2 hour away), and I didn't believe him. I went to Sackville to hotwire the ATV for him, and sure enough there were every bit of 14" on the ground there. We were expecting what you got, but by the grace of God we somehow didn't get it here.

That's one of the funniest things I've read in awhile... and so  true! I have to admit, though, the rust-free cars were nice.
