Need some opinions on what to do July 24, 2008, 03:20:03 PM Long story short, just finishing up on my kids car, its a 83 Heritage. It had a run in with a deer in a earlier life so had to replace the header panel among other things. The replacement I got had a grille in it that someone half heartedly painted black. We have the correct chrome grille but it is a bit speckled so since we had a extra grille we sprayed it while painting the car to match. Take a look at the pics if you will and let me know your opinion on which I should put on the car. Also if any of you have ever sprayed the silver portion of the headlight buckets let me know what you used. Thanks in advance and I guess it was a bit of a long story anyhow. ps the car appears almost black but is really code 9Z midnight academy blue Quote Selected

Need some opinions on what to do Reply #3 – July 24, 2008, 03:38:07 PM For the headlight bucket paint, Ford used to sell a correct argent paint back in the 1980s. They've since discontinued it, but Ford Racing does currently carry an argent paint that is very, very close. I used this paint on my own '84 Cougar's headlight buckets and compared them to a NOS bucket...it's extremely close. Let's put it this way: it would fool my eye, and I've got a very discerning eye. Need some opinions on what to do Reply #4 – July 24, 2008, 04:12:49 PM -hmmmm...Eric. i remember that paint and it made me go look, because i have not needed any nor has anyone asked for any. but most all Ford paint/chemicals have been re-assigned under the Motorcraft name around 2004. pulling out my handy dandy paint and chemical book, it shows Argent spray paint as part # PM-19k207-AA and still availiable thru Fords Motorcraft suppier. now this argent may not be as close in shades as the old blue and white cans from the '70's, but you should be able to track some down. even my local Motorcraft Supplier shows to have 3 cans of it. of course it RETAILs for $15 a can.:hick: but i am sure you have a local hook up for a better price. i checked the FR '08 catalog and did not see any paint listed in it. so????oh , and i'm partial to the painted grilles.....:D Quote Selected
Need some opinions on what to do Reply #5 – July 24, 2008, 04:31:05 PM OK...that makes sense. From what I was told, this newer argent replaced the old stuff. I remember there being at least two different argent paints back in the day. Anyhow, thanks for the info, I'll get my guy to work on hunting some down for me. Quote Selected
Need some opinions on what to do Reply #6 – July 24, 2008, 04:42:56 PM Vinnie. Actually I noticed the hood after I snapped the pic and then realized my kid hadnt latched it back down. The rubber adjuster was a bit out of whack but now it is right where it should be Here are a few more pics of it now, just needs cleaned up and it is going to its first show sunday, not bad for a 16 year olds first car or paint job, of course it was a fair bit of my $$$ Quote Selected
