polishing my intake

i am thinking that when i get up in the morning i am going to polish the upper intake plenum on my car. i have to take it off anyways because i have a vacuum leak under it and i cant reach it with it on. i found a website that i was reading and i dont think its gonna be too hard, just time consuming. i am hoping that if it turns out well that i can possibly make some extra money polishing aluminum for other people. i already have a friend that said if it turns out good he wants me to do some of the piping for the turbo on his truck. has anybody else polished their intake? how hard was it? i figured that if i mess it up im not gonna be too worried about it because i think the smooth look will be better than the rough cast look anyhow and i am gonna get another intake in the future anyways. here is the link of the website that i was reading

heres what the intake looks like after about 2 hours of hard manual labor, 2 blisters on my thumb, and 3 sheets of sandpaper lol. its probably gonna take all day today and tomoro also. lol

Should have used a power sander and worked your way up in grit.

yeah, i have a dremel and some sandpaper discs but i used em already and they are smooth now. when i go in town later i will get some more discs and hopefully it will make it go that much quicker. i still cant decide if i wanna take on polishing the underside of it right now. it seems like too much work for something that will never be seen lol

I used my drill with a 5 inch sanding disc and 150 grit sandpaper discs.Took about 20 minutes to smooth my intake out.After that,I wet sanded the whole thing using 220 all the way up to 2000,then polished it with Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish.I'm getting ready to pull the upper off and remove that mold line from the front.Good luck with yours.It'll really put some shine under the hood.By the way,no blisters doing this intake either.
