Newbie Intro

I've been lurking for a few years and since my recent purchase decided to join the club. I owned a metallic blue cougar in high school, complete with TRW wheels, 3.8 liter engine, and 4 speed automatic transmission. I had to sell the car when my insurance (1990) became $3,800!

Decades later I found a silver 1986 5.0 liter Cougar in Fort Benton, MT with 96,000+/- miles on the clock. She was in pristine condition with virtually no modifications. It still had the factory front brake pads. With almost every option, I jumped at the opportunity to own such a beautiful and (for the period) advanced automobile. I haven't put many miles on her since the purchase. she reads just over 97,000 now.

My '08 2.0 liter turbo jetta may have 50 hp on my '86 5.0 liter Cougar, my jetta may handle better, but Cougar has started so many conversations & turned so many heads! I love the car, It has timeless lines and is on it's way to collector-ville.

I have many and varied plans for this car, but am torn between pristine stocker or high-end fox modified.

Anyway, It's great to be here.

Welcome back to Aero Fox Cougar ownership. You won't find many egos here. Pretty welcoming bunch this forum is.

I know you didn't ask but my vote on a pristine car's destiny is to remain pristine and the mods go to the ones that need some work.

Everyone here wants pictures
"lol.. because not too many people care for that style of car"
