Help TC guys!! I need this headlight cover fastener!!

I put my custom lenses on today and noticed one of the plastic fasteners was missing. I dont know who makes/made these covers, so I have no idea where to pick up a fastener like this. Does anyone know who made these and if they are still in business? Does anyone have an extra one lying around?

Easy enough to make a replacement yourself.

I will go that route if I cant find a original, but if there is a source to buy it, I would rather go that route. I just hate jimmyrigging stuff.

You have to have gotten used to coming up with your own solution by now, having owned Fox Tbirds for so long.

I prefer the term "fabricate" over "jimmyrigging".  I guess if you half-ass it, then your term works.  If you make it to last, then mine works better ;).  Otherwise, 90% of my car is "jimmyrigged", and that is just not the case.

Sorry if I used a term that is no longer appropriate. I was thinking the closest thing to it is a windshield wiper jet. They seem to have the same shape, so that will be what I will use to"fabricate" another one. I was just hoping that someone knew who the vendor of this lense cover, so that I could contact them and possibly purchase another. The lense has no vendor name anywhere on it.

I bought headlight covers for my car back in 1983 and bought several designs by several manufacturers since and never saw one like you posted.

You may have an original homemade 'jimmyrigged'  headlight cover there, if so, no worry about 'jimmyrigging' a fix. :D

The cover looks like a plain piece of Plexiglas with a clever method of attaching.  I might have selected different hardware tho'.

If you do find out who made them, please post the info here.

Like Chuck said, if you are going to own and drive these cars, you better keep your fabrication skills sharp.

They are really cool because they fit inside the inside lip of the bezel and are smooth against it. They are to perfect to be a one off item. I went to the jy today and I thnk a windshield squirter will make a decent replacement with a little fabrication.

You could always cast replacements yourself.

How would you cast these?  Sounds like a good idea, I just wouldn't know where to start.

Are you talking about something in plastic or aluminum?

Plastic.... look around in the internet and you will find some very nice plastic casting kits. I think Eastwood might even have them.

I know a few guys on another forum that do plastic casting, Though its usually for Action Figure type stuff.
I could put you in touch with them if you like?

Thanks for the offer, I did some research and found out what I need to know for now.

I found this site which had lots of good info.

You might want to ask your friends if they think any of casting they do could apply to our cars and to see if they have any tips or suggestions based on experience.

You know how that goes, the first time you do a project, it's one big learning exercise and the mistakes you make help you do it better the next time! Hopefully! :D
