Flexplate weight hitting inspection cover

I need to see if you guys have any ideas. I don't know off the top of my head what the man cover is, but it and the inspection cover are getting hit by the flexplate when we were installing the transmission (in car). We're going to pull them apart again this weekend to make sure they aren't hitting with them separated (don't remember seeing any problems before putting the motor in) but I don't see what could be causing this. The torque converter is shoved all the way into the transmission but I don't even see hot that would push the flexplate's weight into the cover.

Only difference right now is bolting up a 4r70w instead of the aod.

Same flex plate as prior???

If you have it clocked incorrectly and the converter drain plug isn't in the cut out, that can cause your problem...

Same flexplate that was used with the aod (new flexplate that came with the original new motor that was cracked). Everything else we got back from that machine shop was screwy so I wouldn't be surprised if they screwed up that part too. Anyways, it didn't hit with the AOD so I had to rule out the flexplate being a problem.

I don't think the 2003 4r70w has a drain plug. I thought I had a picture but I don't.

We pulled the thing back apart, pulled the torque converter out, placed seals, swapped extension housing and shifter cable bracket, modified the crossmember, and bolted it all back up. The problem with the rubbing is gone and we now have 1/8" clearance between the weight and shield. Next up, finish the crossmember (weld new support in place), wire the transmission up, and bolt the engine/exhaust together. If things go well, it'll run after next weekend. Otherwise it'll be 3 weekends from now.

BTW, sure enough the '03 has no drain plug on the torque converter. Also my driveshaft doesn't need to be cut.
