Wtf Help

Okay, I did a swap in my 1984 cougar..I went from a 3.8 to a 351w! It all fit, well kinda...I have some minor problems! My front sway bar beat the shiznit out of the front of my oilpan! and now i need a new pan! How can i avoid this?? Also what motor mounts should i use to push my motor up a bit higher. I think that would solve my problem!:beatyoass:

Did the 351W make the front of your car sit lower? If so, did you not change out the endlinks?

Get shorter endlinks and you'll be in good shape.

oops, said longer at first, that's wrong, see post below

What oil pan did you use? Was it a 351-into-Fox or mid 80's Crown Vic pan (either of which should work), or was it a truck or some other vehicle pan?

You need to shim out the swaybar and get longer bolts.

Ok a sway bar is mounted nearly ridged on either side of the engine.
The engine is nearly rigid.
Both having rubber mounts that shouldn’t allow but a fraction of an inch for either to move....

And you’re saying it “beat the shiznit out of the front of my oil pan”
Which of these two parts is doing forward/back movement enough to do damage.
Even touching shouldn’t be a big issue, Nothing a BFH won’t fix.

When I lowered the front end of my old '90 2.3L Mustang, I didn't put in shorter endlinks, and shortly after that, at some point I went over a large bump and the swaybar swung back and smacked my steering rack. It broke off one of the hardlines. Had to drive it home 35 miles with it dumping out PS fluid all over, then I was fortunately able to salvage the line off a wrecked mustang a guy up the road. Fun fun.
