Trans Cooler

A few days ago, my radiator started to leak trans flud from one of the fitings. Always has but now it's getting to almost a steady stream when the car is running insted of a simple drip. Is putting one on as simple as getting one off say a newer stang, cutting the ends/fittings off the car lines and the lines from the doner vehicle, leaving some to work with and then splicing with a rubber hose after mounting the trans cooler? Don't wana really rig it on but do it rite.

Im assuming this fitting that threads into the radiator is what you need. You can get them through Latemodel Restoration for $4.95 a piece. I've also seen these fittings at Autozone (don't know if you have one nearby) for a low price as well. It would probably be well worth your time just to slap a new one on.

What kind of trunk has a transmission cooler??

I got one off a truck, there are two styles.  One is over twice the size of the other..  I got the bigger one.. Have had it for 6 months now but haven't used it.  I am running one off a TC at the moment on the 83.  Going through the radiator and the cooler.

Trans cooler? yeah, I got a trans cooler :p 20,000 pound GVWR cooler FTW!!!!! Actually I'm not 100% sure of the GVWR, but I do know it's the biggest cooler this company makes - my father bought it for his Exploder after baking the tranny in it towing a 24 foot travel trailer, the traded the Exploder in after spending $3500 on a new tranny before getting this installed, so he gave it to me.

I've got this one in series with the rad cooler. Fluid comes from the tranny, to the big ass cooler, to the in-rad cooler (to warm fluid back up if big cooler cools it down too much, which it almost certainly does, given that it's designed for 1-ton trucks), and back to the rad.

I did the same thing and didn't have to cut up my stock tranny cooler lines either.  The added benefit is it helps with coolant temps a little bit as well.
