i was wondering what the advantage if there would be one of puting a c6 in my cougar?
and i know its been answered a million times, but whats the difference between a t5 for a 302 and turbo coupe? cus i can get one from a turbo coupe, but i have a 302 and heard its not worht it due to gear ratios...
C6
advantage : strong ,almost bullet proof factory trans
disadvantage: heavy, takes alot of power to turn, expensive.
i can get a c6 from a friend for 30 bucks... and hed probably put it in for 20 lol...
this tranny is from a truck, will the gears be all wierd and will i get worst gas milage?
assuming you have an aod.. you will loose overdrive wich will hurt freeway gas milage. the ratios would be the same as a car c6.
with a 1:1 3rd gear.
I wouldnt do it, you will be adding a ton of weight. If its just a driver stick to an AOD or T5, if its a race car go to a C4.
the T5's from the TC's have a pretty low first gear, but I hear they are decent behind a 5.0, I know alot of Inline6 guys use the 4 cyl t5's.
I would assume 1st to suck. Might as well have 2.73's if you stay with that tranny.
The 4-banger trannys were also built to handle less power. This (http://"http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2000/09/t5swap/index2.shtml") was from this (http://"http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=7370&highlight=world+class") thread. Hope that helps.
C-6 tranny has the big block bellhousing. Small block C-6's are rare and most came on engines back in the 60's. T-5, the 5.0L version is rated at 300 LBS of torque, the 4 cylinder ones are much less, but if used with that in mind, I believe they bolt up. Good luck, Fred
