My dad has a f-150 V6. I know that the 4.2 engine is the same block like my 3.8, and some parts are compatible (for example, oil filter). Yesterday i was changing the spark plugs from the truck and i noticed that was identical in form likethe awsf 44 C (my current plugs), but these are platinum spark plugs. Will this type of plugs work into the 3.8 block with better results ? (conductivity) ....
I thought spark plugs screwed into the heads, not the engine block. so in that case the threads might be different
but then again I'm sure the plugs are made for the 3.8. those with the 5.0s have asked about those +4 plugs, and it's been said that the best plugs for them are the OEM motorcraft plugs
the platinums wont do any better, hell, sometimes they do worse, youre better off just running the same type of plugs that came in your car (motocraft/autolite coppers)
I heard one guy at the track, who was running a mustang, talk about how the with the +4 plugs he lost like two tenths of a second. Then when he put the regular ones back in he picked up the two tenths.

I've been using the regualar Bosch Platinums on my cars for several years....they seem to work fine, they clean up nicely, and I've never had a problem with them. My mechanic, however, swears by Motorcraft plugs. Take that at face value. ;)

Those +4 pieces of junk are about 7 bucks each!
Just put a set of Autolites into the '86 V6. Two of them had bent electrodes, so I had to exchange those last night. Haven't had it on the road yet with the full set of new plugs, so I couldn't tell ya how they are. (besides, I changed out wires, cap, rotor, and coil as well)
Well in since i have a 5.0 non-stock i use bosch platniums for better performance. but i like the Motorcraft a little bit better for minor engine modifications.
Been usuing autolites in my cars for about 15yrs.
Had Bosch +4s in my old 87 XR7, ran great!! Got 'em in my new motor now!! :ies:
I am getting ready to pick up some plugs myself, I purchased a set of Autolite platinums from Wal Mart for $1.95 each. I have a set of mildly used Split Fire V plugs in my garage a friend gave me for free from his 1995 Mustang GT. Which route would be best?
