Not bad. I wouldn't give my T-birds up to own one, but I wouldn't exactly say no if someone gave me one. :D
Well nor would i give my "baby" up either but she would go into storage and get the fixes she needs and brought back out when done. Im keeping my Cat Till i die i will go out :2gunsfiri before i give her up. But the Montego looks slick

One drove by me the other day as I was walking to campus, so I got a pretty good look. I don't know if it's my "ford" bias, but that car is classy! The guy driving it was yapping on his cell phone like a typical yuppy, but the car itself sounded solid and looked like it drove like a dream.

The Ford is enough of a ripp-off without those Mercedes tails.
If you can't tell, I'm severely disapointed with Ford on this one.
Looks too much like the 500. I was hoping for a slam dunk like the 1986 Sable (different body, different interior, more style than a Taurus) but this car is pretty tame.
Still wanna drive one, of course. ;)

Wow! That looks............... just like an Escape with a Mountaineer grille. Remember the days where brand management meant same platform, not same body?
Volvo and Jaguar all give platforms to Ford that Ford rebodies, but not for Mercury.
Mercury is the red headed stepchild of Ford these days.
Does anyone know of any car platforms that Ford builds for itself? Mustang & T-bird on a Jag platform; 500 on a Volvo platform; Focus on a Mazda platform. That leaves the Crown Vic. And that's the only one that's blowing up. Something's not right in the world.
Oh, sorry, they still make the Taurus, at least they're still selling them. The GT is a different kind of story, being such low volume.
i have an idea, how about they take the time they devoted to designing that fancy pants website for their cars, and use it on designing the actual car... ill bet if more cars looked better or were more origional, word of mouth would sell more than all the fancy pants webpages ever dreamed...
I agree the corporate twins need to quit looking like reskined versions of the base idea, But i do like the montego esp. since theyre offering a 3.0 Duratec v6.
what happened to the Maurader and the Messenger? The Ford 500 and the Mercury Montego are no comparison to the rear wheel drive V8 300 sedan that Chrysler put out recently.
For one thing its not RWD only FWD and AWD and who cares about chrysler just wait a year and let the complaints start to roll in on those magunms, just like the beautiful problem they are having with the SRT4's leaking hella oil.Chrysler has been and always will be a low quality company.
all day at my job we get smashed with the new durango's and the 300's. and its not just one or two common problems. THERE ALL MESSED UP IN EVERYWAY! we seem to get more 2004 duangos than we do 1930-2005 ford/gm cars. the magnum has held its owe i hear in durability wise.
but on the other topic, i think ford releys way to much on foreign parts. they need to start thinkin up some shiznit for themselves for once and not let asains do it.
the 500 is BADASS tho, i drive them all the time at work, and as soon as we get a shipment of them, boom the next day there gone. just like the mustang. and the tuarus's are builindg stock very heavily. i dislike the taurus very much. i think there style is old, interior is horribly uncomfortable, and the base enge has NO get up and go. not to mention i hate how the transmisison operates.
Mercury is supposed to get a vehicle called the Milan in 2006. Found this pic by searching google. What do you guys think?
The Milan is the Ford Fusion and the Lincoln Zephyr...both come from the Mazda 6. This car will officially kill the Taurus/Sable. The only Fords that are 100% American designed are the trucks. Though the Focus was redesigned in Europe and now that old one is unique to us.
Except for the $36,000 Hemi model, the 500 is waaay better than that POS Chrysler 300. Go wiggle the rear bumper on a 300 and you'll see just how poorly made it is. Car is just flimsy and cheap, its not gonna impress too many people. You get more car with the 500.
i think that car looks sumwhat like a futuristic focus. i wish the Ford Falcon would come its way over to the states.

I know the 500 and Montego are front and all wheel drive and I hate Chrysler. They are one of the main reasons I am laid off of my job. I thought Ford was coming onto something when they came out with the Mercury Marauder a few years ago. I would like to see the Mercury Messenger out on the roads. I am a Ford guy all the way, even though I worked for Mitsubishi, I have three Fords in my drive, well 2 Fords, 1 Mercury all under 1991.
