Title: Need advice from people who know camcorders
Post by: crystal on November 11, 2004, 01:57:44 PM
Well, I've been wanting a little camcorder for some time now, mostly just for taking videos of cars and stuff.

I found three at BJ's for under $400 and I'm not sure which to get since all this info doesn't mean a whole lot to me. Here's the comparison I got from a website, http://ferdbird.com/camcorders.html

The three models are:

JVC GRDX77
JVC GRD72U
Panasonic PVGS2

any input is appreciated  :)

Why is there an AT&T ad right over the info I need to see?  There's at least two ads right over the info...

White balance is a must. You'll be able to record accurate color temperature that way and prevent your footage from looking anything but natural. Manual shutter speed is also good - I have a feeling you'll play with that from time to time.

Don't bother with color viewfinders.  They are not accurate at all unless you're using the high end gear like the Canon XL-1.  There's a greater range of tone with the B & W viewfinder.

I'd say the camera with the highest pixel rate (think resolution) and white balance is the best one to go for.
